How do you accurately determine what your activity level is?

    Use the descriptions as guidelines.

    Though the Sedentary or Not Active given is really a bump on a log all day and weekend basically.
    Long commute, desk job minimal moving around, come home plop in chair, then to bed.
    Outside of any exercise you do.
    So usually means no kids, pets, household responsibilities, ect.

    Throw daily life of that sort in - and a weekly average becomes Lightly Active.

    Just notice it's not accounting for exercise in any description - because you are intended to log it when really done.
    Not account for it in hopes you really do it.
    Then when you do more - you eat more.
    Do less, you eat less.
    Life lesson.

    Use the guidelines to start. This will get you into the right ballpark. Your activity level isn't set in stone and can be changed any time.

    Then the best indication is progress which you can use to fine tune and hone in on an appropriate setting. To do this you just check your progress after about 6 weeks or so and see how your actual results match up with the predicted results. (This all hinges on accurate logging)

    If you're losing weight slower than expected then you might have chosen an activity level that is a bit generous. Try dropping it back a level and check again in 6 weeks. Conversely if you're not losing as quickly predicted then you can adjust the other way.

    Then it's just a matter of waiting, assessing and adjusting.
