I was feeling sick

So yesterday I actually thought I had the flu. I was weak, sweating, headache, issues down south (we won't get in to detail) and the thought of food made me want to be sick!
After I got home from work I had a bigger meal than usual, not healthly...we are talking McDonalds Big Mac........ I ate all of it and felt 100% better!!!! I snacked on some of my favorite foods the rest of the night I didn't feel stuffed, but felt satisfied.
I woke up this morning and feel 100% better - all symptoms gone! Was it seriously because I just needed to give my body a break and eat some crap!?! This past week I have been working out 90 minutes a day and staying within my calorie goal - and doing it pretty healthy in my opinion.... I guess my body needed a break??? Of course it may have nothing to do with my big meal, but do end all those symptoms that quickly seems to me like it was a food issue and my body needed something.
I went to see a nutritionist awhile back and she tought me how to get all the things I need daily - Starting this week I am going to focus on things my body needs not just how many calories I am getting!
Any thoughts?

You might want to be checked for diabetes. Also, are you eating back your workout calories, and are you staying hydrated with all those workouts?0

You might just need a little extra sugar. It's possible you were having a hypoglycemic problem (I have the disorder chronically), which means your body wasn't getting enough sugar. Make sure you're eating enough, you may also have gone into starvation mode by not eating enough calories. A lot of things can cause these problems.0

Hmmm never thought of the diabetes thing... doesn't run in the family, but I suppose that doesn't mean anything. I typically do eat back my workout calories IF I am hungry... I haven't really felt deprived or anything all week... I did stop eating after like 6 PM so that may have an effect on my energy. Oh yes, I drink TONS of water!0

I actually read a scientific journal article that said that if you eat a ton of calories when you first start to feel sick it can actually make you feel better faster.0

How much fat have you been eating? Your body needs fat. If you haven't been getting enough fat, perhaps that could have been the problem.
How often are you eating? Perhaps your blood sugar was off. Are you eating every 3 hours? Or are you only eating 3x a day?
And you're right... not all calories are created equal. If your daily allowance is 1600 calories... you COULD eat 1600 calories of potato chips.. or you could eat a variety of good-for-you stuff. If you eat just potato chips, there are things you need that you won't be getting.
I'm also a big fan of and believer in Nutrition Response Testing. My chiropractor does it. She scans your body and can tell you which organs need some hep and exactly what nutrients your body needs. So that would be my little bit of advice.

You are a lot different than me if eating your old "junky" food made you feel physically better. Don't get me wrong, I am fighting hard against my instincts to eat bread & butter, crackers & cheese, cake,cookies, and anything sold at a convenience store for a "snack". After a few months of healthy eating, I start to feel sick if I eat those things. I was a sugarholic and recently eating a Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie drizzled in caramel and chocolate that I wolfed down made me want to throw up! WHile I loved the taste of it going down and it made me happy, after a few minutes I wish I hadn't done that.
You could have had food poisoning which people often mistakenly think is the flu. So maybe after being "sick" just eating to bring back food into your body made you feel better. I couldn't imagine it was a junk food cure, though.0 -
Maybe you were just fight some type of bug. I don't believe that our bodies ever need a break from healthy eating. Our bodies crave healthy food. I'm sure you would have felt the same no matter what you had eaten. I would be careful not to le yourself think that the unhealthy stuff makes you feel better and is a good break for your system. I'm not against junk food, but it's never good for you.0

I agree... I am sure the junk food didn't make me feel better! I just thought the amount of food... like I said I went over by 500 calories which I try not to do!
I will NEVER go back to liking junk food! Yuck! Usually if I eat greasy food I get sick which is what surprised me about last night!

Your calories and your intake food calories do not add up. If you are working out 90 minutes per day, that's maybe around 800 to 900 calories a day. That eguals around 4000- 4500 calories in five days. I don't know how many calories you are supposed to eat but it may be somewhere between 1200 to 1500 a day, that equals 6000 to 7500 in five days. Because you are working out around 4000-4500 calories in five days, you are only eating 2000-3500 calories in five days? I think you are undereating. That's probably why you needed all those extra calories.0

Try eating a sugary carb snack before a workout. Seems stupid, but it is really good for the workout. A peanut butter granola bar would be the best option - carbs, sugar, abd protein. If you are working out on an empty stomach you can, and will, start to feel sick. Your body requires energy to move and when you start your workouts on nothing its like trying to drive to chicago on fumes. You need at least enough i the tank to get there. Try to make sure you are getting enough of all nutrients! The type of workouts i have been seeing you do lately are very calorie-burning and will burn you out. I wouldn't worry about diabetes in your case, i think that you are pretty healthy.
Also, if you are drinkning coffee in the mornings, try to cut back and add the caffeine later in the day if you feel you need it. Caffeine dehydrates the body and is a diuretic -- if you have a large amount of caffeine on minimal calries, then you can feel weak.
Also, keep eatung your excerice back (at least some!). Your calories may be set at 1200, but use the metabolic calculator thing to see what your maintanence is to stay the same weight. If your maintenance is 2200 calories, you are already depriving your body by 1000 calories. Add in all that excercise and you are depriving your body of nearly 2000 calories per day. That is a HUGE deficit. Weightloss is simply eating under your maintenance. Good diet plans actually involve massive amounts of eating all day of the right foods and adding physical activities. I think you are gorgeous just the way you are anyway0
