Hi All,
I have been using fitness pal for years only for calorie counts though. I am what most of you would call a senior, but I don't feel like one! I am 66 and have always stayed "sort of" in good shape my whole life. I now find myself in need for a hip replacement and my surgery was delayed to the covid. I am walking with a cane...have gained 8 lbs and that is alot on my little frame and I need to DO something!!! HELP!!!!!!

Well, if you have been using this site for years and you have been tracking calories, then you know that you have to control how much you eat.
Good thing is that we can't just rush out and buy stuff now.
Plan your meals to stay within your calorie goal.
Obviously you have been eating way over your goal if you've gained eight pounds. You didn't gain eight pounds since COVID started.
Weight management is 100% about food. You don't have to move at all.
Set your goals and make it your job to hit your numbers.1 -
@AnnPT77 has the perfect plan for you
You will have to control your food intake while your activity level is impacted by the Covid thing.
You mean this one?

(OP, it's what I did at age 59-60 to lose 50 pounds in less than a year, without increasing my exercise routine (it would work fine with no exercise routine), and how I've maintained a healthy weight for 4+ years since, i.e. I'm now 64, close to you in age.)
I'd suggest this one, first, though the title may not be complete apposite in this thread, the actual content is:

I am 65 myself and rejoined to help get myself back under control- my eating in particular. Although food intake is most important- I think exercise is good for the mind/spirit and that helps with eating. There are sitting in a chair exercises you could do - check out videos on YouTube. It’s important to keep in shape especially when going in for surgery- will help in your recovery. Good luck!0
