Max's Weekend Movie Review

Spanglish(2004)
Adam Sandler
Téa Leoni
Paz Vega
Cloris Leachman

A woman and her daughter emigrate from Mexico for a better life in America, where they start working for a family where the patriarch is a newly celebrated chef with an insecure wife.

This movie sucked. I can't stand Tea Leoni and this movie only confirmed why I don't like her. She's always playing the neurotic woman and she does that very well in this movie. Just like in Jurassic Park III, you want to slap the sh%t out of her!!

The movie wasn't funny and I failed to see the relationship being built between Sandler and Vega. The best part of the movie's was Sandler's daughter, played by Sarah Steele. Her character had some teeth but she was out of the plot half way through the movie.

I only watched it to the end so I could find out what happened. I should have folded socks.

Two thumbs down.

I shall now remove it from my netflix list. I've heard mixed reviews on it, but I figured since is was "serious" Sandler, it couldn't be THAT good.

I agree, that movie is a total waste of time. I, too, didn't buy the chef/housekeeper relationship at all...no chemistry. And the Tea Leoni character was just too much like a cartoon character.

    2 thumbs down as well

If you didn't go to see Australia, it's out today on DVD. It's kinda a chick flick with some history and culture and the cutest kid on the planet thrown in.

    Nicile Kidman
Huge Ackman, I mean Hugh Jackman

And Max, the best line of the movie and the most sentimental part ......is all about you......

Not that Max cares about MY opinion and I hate to agree with him on anything but I didn't care for this movie either.

    I much preferred Click!

That makes me sad for you.

Seriously, though. I can see how not EVERYONE can be a Sandler fan. Same thing with Jim Carey.

Max, I'll message you. You would like it, lots of wranglin' and dirty guys and bombing and shooting...it's a little predictable, but the cinematography is good. Kidman isn't my favorite, but she was good.
