i eat a multitude of snacks through out the day. i find it best for me to eat smaller meals and snacks throughout the day instead of bigger meals. i eat fruit, veggies, nuts, peanut butter, and toast for snacks. HOWEVER alot of days i also eat a not so healthy snack. i usually choose low calorie and fat options such as fat free ice cream. i love to bake so i am always creating new healthier versions of favorites such as chocolate chip cookies. last night i made sugar free, low fat and low calorie cheescake brownies. YUMMY. my question is if i eat one snack like this everyday but am within my calorie goals will it hinder my weightloss? do others allow themselves snacks like this daily? what do you do and suggest?

  • I eat snacks (both healthy and non-healthy) in moderation and within my calorie goals so I don't become completely miserable and give up. I've lost weight so far without having to drastically change what I eat. I think being able to enjoy some "guilty pleasures" in moderation helps to keep you on track.
  • I am always snacking too. I try to eat something every 2-3 hours that way I am never hungry and my blood sugar is good. My snacks range from yogurt, pretzels, nuts, cheese and fruits. I think its okay, as long as you stay within your calories goals, so far its been okay for me. I would love to try your recipe for cheesecake brownies :)

The key is moderation and just being aware of what you are eating.

I would also LOVE the recipe!!!

Indefinitely do healthy AND non healthy snacks daily! I think when you cut out everything that is good you are setting yourself up for failure. So, I indulge in something sweet everyday. Not usually many calories and they are added to the calories I have. I lost 30 lbs last year and have lost an additional 12 so far since I started again this year. So, I think all things in moderation is the key.

Sounds like a great idea and it works really well for some people. I don't personally have "naughty" treats at the moment but that's because I tend to keep going back for more. I am snacking regularly but resisting the sugar - sugar turns me into a monster, lol. As I get more used to it I will start to allow myself more of the little treats. If it is working for you then go for it. I have heard several times that you should aim to eat healthy food at least 80% of the time so I can't see how a little treat can hurt. It probably even helps by stopping you from feeling deprived. Go for it

My words exactly----keeping carbs low, eating every 2-3 hours, nothing processed.
  • I like to reinvent new recipes, but sugar fee food ( with artificial sugar, splenda etc) really upsets my stomach. :(
