I want to like it. I know it’s good for me. I just can’t get there. What do you guys do with it?

there's enough other fish out there that when I don't like one I choose the others.

Um no. I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe...
  • Peppered mackerel fillets mashed with natural yoghurt, squeeze of lemon and chopped parsley makes a nice pate.

This is a family favourite, although not calorie friendly: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1363637/indonesian-fried-rice-with-mackerel

Sorry. I agree with the other post, if you don't like it, try another fish. If you get a recipe there's a good chance you'll put a lot of effort into a fish you don't like :(

Thanks I'm so going to try those!

I like most fish this one's just a little oily for me. It is, however, environmentally friendly, low in heavy metals and very healthy. I have been using in salads and I just can't get past the texture. Diluted in a recipe I'll get used to it.

If you had Jamaican friends, you'd already like mackerel. Look up Jamaican recipes online, and find ones with mackerel. I like mine with Port Royal Fish Fry seasoning and either fried on a REALLY high heat or grilled on a grill/open flame.
