Anyone done Medi Weight loss before?

I'm waiting for approval from my insurance company and if they give the go ahead I may start Medi Weight loss Center. Anyone have any experience with this? I met with someone today and got the basics. I'm a little nervous about it because they said the first week you drastically cut calories and eat only protein (like 500, 700 or 1000 calories of it), then week 2 you add back in fruits and veggies along with the protein. The first week unnerves me but she said it's not as hard as it sounds because when you go in ketosis your hunger goes away. Anyhow, any successes or failures or experiences with the program?

Just being honest and not trying to sound harsh..but that sounds extremely harsh and not at all sustainable.
Why not just plug your stats into here, eat what you want (as long as it fits into your calorie goals) and go from there?
I personally wouldn't make it through the first week...but, if you can, more power to ya 😉8 -
These questions spring to mind:
- What's the rationale for putting you in ketosis for one week then bringing you back out of it next week?
- What are your total daily calories for that first week?
- What's your cost after your insurance pays its part?
This sounds similar to South Beach, which you can do for free after getting the book from the library.10 -
Thanks for all your input and ideas. Yes I'm worried about sustainability too. BC/BS said that it can take up to 40 days to approve so I may just see how much I can lose on my own in that time and if that's working keep doing that. I've lost 10.8 lbs on my own so far but have to lose 130 more. So we'll see. I have to be able to do this long term since it's gonna be a while to get to my goal.4

So my dr who delivered my son....while she was my dr she was overweight. Saw her for my 6 wks check and she was overweight. When I went back the following year to see her for my annual she no joke looked like an entirely different person. She was already pretty but she looked both healthy and pretty. She said she lost over 100 lbs (the weight she said she gained in med school) doing Medi, no exercise besides a yoga class every now and then because she says she’s busy. It worked for her but that is obviously her individual experience. Just wanted to share.2 -

Thanks for sharing this. I'm still waiting to hear from the insurance company to see if it's approved or not so I have some time to consider it. I've lost 13 lbs on my own so maybe I won't need it but we'll see.2 -

Actually sounds like a diet they would put a wls candidate on from what I have read.2 -
I don't have experience with Medi Weight, but I am visiting a weight loss center that does bariatric surgery. I want to avoid the surgery. My nutritionist has me on a 1200 calorie a day plan and exercising at least 30 minutes a day 4 times a week. I've been lucky and dropped 60 lbs so far so I didn't need to tweak what % of my calories were protein, carbs and fat. However some people who are insulin resistant have a hard time losing even on a restrictive calorie diet. Good luck with your weight loss.0

Has anyone used MyFitnessPal with Medi Weightloss? We signed up this week and would love to use it with MyFitnessPal. What settings do you need to change? Anything?0

One of my friends used it (she was a nurse, even worked for them for some time). She lost a lot of weight. Then she regained it. Then she lost some of it again. Then regained it. And so forth, repeatedly.
I'm thinking it may not have a good "transition to maintenance" strategy, but maybe it was just her. 🤷♀️1
