NSV- water sinking! I'm no longer too fat to float!

Since I had a minor (one pound) gain this week I thought I'd counter-act it with a little NSV (Non Scale Victory for those who aren't familiar with the lingo). Check this out!
I remember trying to swim at my heaviest, or somewhere near there. I love the water. I swear I am part mermaid. Imagine my surprise when I could not get my BUTT to cooperate and go under water. So there I am, trying to do a typical over arm swim and....my head keeps going under water. I couldn't even swim if I wanted to. I literally kept floating to the top of the water and could not swim. Not that I could do more than a few strokes, but still. For the first time in my life could not swim!
Fast forward to a 75 pounds or more loss. I'm in the deep end of a pool (I was taking water aerobics at one point) and I noticed if I stopped treading water, I stayed in place. I was at the perfect 50/50 proportion of head-perfectly-above-water with no effort. I tread water. I'd stop. I would simply stay above water and not have to move my legs!
So here I am this summer, 160+ pounds down and we get an above ground pool. I have been water jogging as many of you know, but I don't have a deep end. This is only 4' deep and yes, I can swim! My butt goes down! But better yet, read this:
Last week we were in a hotel overnight and we tread water in the deep end, hubby and I. I stopped treading to see what would happen and guess what. I SANK. *wipes tear*. I no longer float. I must now keep going, or drown.
That's my little NSV on a day I fee like taking the scale out the driveway and running it over, continuously, with the truck.

Wow, I've always wondered why I could float but other people said they could not. I had no idea it had something to do with fat. I just thought it was my special talent!!!0

That is so amazing! Congratulations. I don't even know you, and I wiped a tear away.0

Last summer holidays i was laughing at my husband saying how easy it was to float when he was sinking like a rock! This summer after loosing some weight and toning up i sink! nothing i can do makes me float anymore!
I used to feel really smug about my party trick, now i realise it was just my fat keeping me up! :laugh:0 -
I can totally relate to this... I noticed myself being less buoyant the other day and made a comment to my friends about it! At first they looked at me blankly, but eventually got the significance! and laughed with me!
there has long been the standing joke that i would serve well as a flotation device... but that is getting less likely everyday!
Congrats on the NSV! Be proud to have the choice of sink or swim!
Congrats,

LOL I noticed that a few years ago at a hotel pool. I floated in the deepens like a bouy. I could have floated there all day! I'm anxious to see if I sink next time I hit the pool
congrats on such a fun NSV!0 -
