Smaller clothes?!

Sooo--all of my pants/shorts are too big. They are actually starting to not look cute because they're so baggy. I'm super happy about this, obviously--but the kicker here is that I really can't afford to buy an entire new wardrobe. I got a new pair of jeans, but I can't really afford to replace my entire pants/shorts collection (oh, college..)! And I don't want to wear the same pair of pants all the time. And I want to lose about 5 more pounds and don't know what that will do. What have you all been doing about this? Waiting it out until you hit your goal? Thanks for any suggestions on what I can do for bargain new clothes haha!

You may want to try the Salvation Army, Goodwill, DAV, or a resale shop. You can often find name brand clothes with tags still on them. They are probably somebody else's clothes that they only had to lose 5-10 pounds to fit into (but never did). I know I have had my share of those. Just a thought. Congratulations on getting to this step in your journey. :flowerforyou:

Salvation Army! I buy all my clothes there : ) You can actually get new items there with the tags still on or gently used items for an awesome price. Congrats on the baggy clothes.

Goodwill, for sure! I go there every month or so for new black work pants because they get baggy FAST! It costs me about $4 for a pair of pants. You can't beat it. I also like Wal-Mart, they have great prices on their clothing and it's all very cute :)

Look in to getting some of your favorites taken in. Most tailors can do even jeans and they don't cost nearly what new clothes cost. I wouldn't recommend it for everything, just the favorites. I would try a not so favorite first to see how the tailor does and if you like the look.

I would say buy non-descript clothes when you can. Black Dress Pants, Generic Jeans with no odd patterns on the pockets or in the wash. People don't notice your pants as much as you think they should.

I had the same issue & I work at a bank, dress clothes every day... so I had to buy those, plus casual clothes. I went to a Suzy Shier end-of-season sale, & picked up each pair of dress pants for $10 - Black, Brown, & Pinstripe. Ta-Da. Three pairs of non-descript pants I can pair with much of my clothes & no one will ever notice.

I couldn't wait. My pants would not stay up & they looked really bad with the waist all bunched up by a belt. I bought 2 new pairs of pants at my smaller size (18 to size 14). They were on a good sale & they actually fit me tighter than I usually like them--to allow for some more weight loss. You can also go to 2nd hand stores--you can find some trendy/fashionable pants/shorts at a fraction of the price. Good Luck & congratulations on your weight loss.

Try Goodwill, ours has a half price day the first Saturday of each month. It also runs half price on a different colored tags daily or weekly I think but you can get cute gently used or with tags still on them really cheap. It is full of the brand names you just have to look through the racks... Congratulations... and Good Luck Shopping!!!! :drinker:

Agree with the suggestions for second hand stores, but I agree even more with the no-one-is-noticing-your-clothes-as-much-as-you-think comment. Especially if you are in college--everyone else is too stressed out about their clothes not fitting, sports, significant others, and that exam that's coming up this Friday. Congratulations on your success.

I'm right with you. On top of the trouser situation, I only have one jacket that doesn't look like it belongs to my Dad! I've just bought a couple pairs of jeans and some cheap T shirts, now I'm waiting for my final 4.6 pounds to come off before I go any further.

There's a store where I live called Playtos closet. They buy gently used stuff, you can sell your too big close to them and then turn around and buy stuff there in a smaller size.......... maybe your town has a similar place?

Charity shops, eBay and sale rails/ factory outlet stores.

Try to go for a basic colour scheme - browns and beiges all go well, or black and white with the odd blob of bright colour. Avoid patterns. Look at what you currently have in terms of bags, shoes, scarves etc and build around those.
