Sugar and starch gets me too - honestly the best thing for me has been to cut out sugar completely for a while several days at least- till its out of my system. If I just try to "cut down" then I still get triggered and over do it. When its no longer in your system you don't crave it the same way. Also - without the super sweet stuff all the time, fruit and honey and even carrots start tasting sweet and candy-like (though lets be honest, nothing replaces chocolate)

I haven't had any sugar since October 2, 2016 & I've lost 20 lbs. so far. I also have cut out all carbonated beverages (Diet Cokes & Diet Mt. Dews). I don't have any cravings for cookies, candy, cakes, ice cream, etc. and I use to have to eat it all until it was gone if I had any of those things in the house. I now eat fruit with each meal and it satisfies my sweet tooth. Good luck!

It doesn't work for everyone, but I'm not the only person I've seen say this: For me, making it a point to eat 3 servings of fruit every day really reduced my cravings for less nutrient-dense sweets (baked goods, candy).

Eventually - after a few weeks - I could cut back on the fruit if I wanted to, without having the cravings for other sweets return full force. In fact, after a while, most of the regular candies and simple sweets like grocery-store baked goods started tasting way too simple and kind of boring.

I never gave up sweets entirely, still enjoy a bit of good chocolate or a rich dessert now and then, but I don't crave the simple stuff.

Your mileage may vary, but perhaps it's worth a try.
