I never miss working out, but I have such a hard time with self control when I need it most. Every day when lunch rolls around I can't wait to get out of the office for a while, and I go straight to fast food even though I have packed my own healthy lunch. I also LOVE soda!!! I try so hard to cut it down to once a week, but I always get tired and fail! I wish I knew what was my problem. After I eat the bad food I feel so guilty, but not enough to not do it again! Does anyone else have this problem? I have lost 27 lbs so far, but I know that I will never loose the rest if I don't get this under control. i have four children one with special needs and I work full time so I think a lot of the time it is stress related. I would love to be accountable to someone. I wish I had a friend that was working on the same thing so I could text them at lunch time and we could enourage each other. Help I feel a little alone on this one! Thanks :)

I will send you a message! I am a stress eater and I have to work on it daily. You can do this.

You need friends on MFP to look at your journal every day! I will add you as a friend :)

I know exactly what you mean! I often ditched a perfectly healthy lunch at work to eat fast food. I'm an addict - seriously! I'd be in line at the drive thru telling myself how bad this was for me - and ordering anyway.

For me, willpower wasn't enough. I'm lucky to live close enough to the office that I walk most days. It takes me about 20 minutes, and that's not enough time to get home to my car and go anywhere for lunch. I'll step outside for a stroll around the building at lunchtime just for a change of scene.

That's working for me. After a few weeks, I'm finding I don't miss the fast food so much anymore. Ok, I know most people can't walk to work, but could you park about a mile away and walk the rest on some days? That would make it more difficult to leave in the middle of the day for a burger. Plus you'd get a little extra exercise in.

Good luck finding something that works for you! You can do it. :)
  • Ugh.....I know just how you feel!! I work out everyday and do well all day until now(after dinner) and I just want to binge on sweets.....very frustrating. I actually get very cranky and short with my kids....very sad to feel this way about food!!!

If you're trying to give up soda cutting to once a week might be too drastic. It's HARD to give up. Try once a day and see how you go.

In regards to the food, is there someone who will support you at work? Woman I sit next to has lost 40kg and she's great at telling me the bad stuff. It's a massive help.

I understand that! I used to head to a fast food place EVERY DAY during lunchtime, plus a few times a week for breakfast and dinner. I actually had to cycle which McDonalds I'd stop at so the workers didn't think I was eating there every day! What helped me was my SO helping to pick and pack my breakfast and lunch foods for me. The double up of guilt from eating badly and guilt from having to waste the food someone who cared for me helped prepare led me to stop eating at fast food places for a few weeks. By then the cycle was broken and now it's a rare occasion when the craving pops up, rare enough that I don't mind sharing a meal or even grabbing a burger.
