You write more--others will write more. It's called give and take.7 -
Do you think MFP is like.. a place where you come to just farm motivational statements from strangers? Weird outlook. This is a calorie-counting website with a forum function, allowing you to try to make connections with other people. If you make a connection with someone and you two motivate each other, great. But you’re not entitled to motivation from strangers out of nowhere.11
-
If you want to feel motivated there is a success forum with a lot of stories. I do not personally try to motivate others that much. I would rather encourage them to have a plan that doesn't require a lot of additional motivation to execute.7
-
I’ve noticed a few one liners you’ve posted which haven’t received much attention. The one that did (about stamina) you didn’t go back and comment on the advice people had offered or try to make a connection with them, which is how “friends” are usually made.
It might be a good idea to tell the reader a little about yourself to connect with like-minded people to both offer and receive motivation and support.
You could also search through the groups to see if there are people with the same interests, goals and make friends there too.
Good luck.9 -
Real motivation comes from within.
External motivation is usually a cookie or threats. They don't work very well in the long term.1 -

There’s no attitude I just don’t get why everyone got so angry coz I don’t write directions on how to give advice but ok then that’s cool take it how u want to0
-
I thought the whole point in these forums was to say how u feeling about the things u try and people respond with advice or something my bad for assuming that’s what forums are for1

What sorta advice would you like? Do you want to share some about your goals? Do you have any specific questions?2 -

I am not angry. Not even a little. I will gladly help you if you need something specific that I can offer.
I think what people are trying to tell you is to ask for what you need and the frustration you are sensing is because they want to help you but cannot.6 -
What kind of motivation are you looking for?0
-
Put weight on fast with out steroids1
-
@jordanconroy23 how many calories are you consuming at the moment? Do you understand macros? What kind of weight training are you doing? Can share things my husband did/does, but need to know how much you know/where you’re at1
-
Well I’m eating 2500cals maybe more a day and I train moderate weights I am putting weight on just not how I want to be I feel I’m still abit lagged?0
-
You’ll probably get better advice on the gaining weight board, but I can help a bit!
If you’re confident with form, go for free weights rather than machines so you train more muscles at once. Machines are great at tweaking individual muscles once you’re almost where you want to be.
Also remember to increase the weight you’re lifting. The last rep of a set should be doable but difficult. If it doesn’t feel hard to do, add weight.
Do you cycle between bulking and cutting? My husband will eat around 4000-5000kcal a day when bulking, and drop to around 1500 when cutting. He lifts heavy though, so I’d aim below those amounts, but more than you’re eating now.
You won’t gain very quickly at 2500kcal whilst training as a man, especially if you’re on the taller side. I’d guess you might not be eating enough, especially if you’re feeling lagged.
Giving muscles a chance to rest is also really important. Rotate muscle groups and don’t skip out on rest days - you’ll delay rather than speed up progress.
MFP will suggest you set your macros at 50/30/20 (carbs/protein/fat) but husband is of the opinion that 35/35/30 gives him more success. Don’t skimp on protein, it makes a huge difference.
You might find it helps to avoid xenoestrogenic foods as they can trick your body into increasing oestrogen levels, which can mess with gains. When you’re eating a large amount of food, these can become a problem when they wouldn’t in small amounts.
Try rowing or exercise bike with higher resistance for cardio?
And for motivation, find music that gets you really, really pumped and play it loud. Channel frustration and get in the zone!

Yep I know about weight lifting lol I use free weights but thanks for that advice and wow 4000 kcals I’ll build up to that this app says eat 2500 at least a day to put weight on but I’ll try go for 4000 up from now on so is there any good creative u put money on or proteins?0
-
Also I think it’s totally the right thing to avoid steroids. But you may have unrealistic expectations as to the natural limits of muscle gain if you’re looking at pictures of body builders and wanting to look like that (I don’t know if you are!). Look up natty lifters for a more realistic view of what a fit and muscular body will actually look like.2
-
Yep I agree I don’t want to be massive or a body builder I’d just like to put more weight as I lost a lot lately due to Illnesses but I will keep going never do steroids lol0
-
@jordanconroy23 maybe start at around 3000? Then work up, just to be sure you don’t end up fat! A 1500 increase straight off the bat may mess you up if you’re doing okay now. Husband may be taller than you, and is obviously burning more calories over the day due to high muscle mass. Also good to stretch your stomach a bit too - I have seen first hand how difficult it actually is to fit that amount of food in if you’re eating well! But 2500 is maintenance calories for a lot of men, and if you’re training hard then I really think that might be the root of your problem.
Are you eating the right things at the right time before/after workouts? I do know if his diet slips then his strength isn’t all there, and that timing of food is everything.
I can’t remember the name of the forum he used to go on when starting out - I’ll ask when he’s home from work! He got really good results, but I can’t over emphasise just how much food he needs to eat to stay big 😂

And aim for “real food” protein sources before reaching for the protein shake. You’re likely to end up needing shakes anyway in addition to meat etc (cause meeting those macros with meat is EXPENSIVE!!) but prioritise the meat - shakes won’t provide a complete amino acid profile.0
-
How did u get so clues up about all this?0
-
Years of my husband training and telling me all about it. At length 😂.
He did loads of research and got really good advice off the bodybuilding.com forums (I know you don’t want to body build but there’s a wealth of knowledge on there and people are really helpful when it comes to muscle gain, but you need to be quite specific with your questions!)
He logs calories and workouts using this app though, as it’s definitely the best one for that. The calculators can be a bit iffy on here though, especially for your goals. If I was you, I’d maybe have a mooch on the bodybuilding.com forums (or somewhere else similar, there might be better forums!) for some advice on putting together a diet/lifting programme, but carry on logging on here.
I hope that helps!0 -
Yep I get u I will take what u said and use it to my full advantage thanks lol1
-
Good luck! Once you find something that works for you, progress should be swift! Things go slow until you’ve cracked what works best for your body, then whoosh it all comes together.1
-
I’ll keep u updated lol0
