I’m on week one and man...meal prep is such a b-i-t-c-h! Does anyone have advice to meal prep more efficiently?

Is meal prep in general that is causing you issues (e.g. you're used to eating out, or packaged convenience foods)? Or do you usually prepare your own meals, but find it tiresome to combine that with calorie counting?

For week one we planned a week of menus around what we liked and had on the shelf. We would analyze the intake from that meal and either plan to have it once a week till it ran out, or replaced it with something else. Our goal is, within a month, to get everything out of our pantry and refrigerator that isn't good for us. How our weight turns out this month were not worried. Can't afford to waste food.

If you hate meal prep, don’t do it. There’s zero reason to do meal prep if you don’t like it or don’t feel motivated by the results it gives you. It works for many people, but it’s not a requirement to being successful.

My husband hates reheating food and prefers cooking daily, while I don’t particularly like that or thinking about preparing food every day. We have solved this by planning our meals for the week on Sunday and going grocery shopping for the week. We look at calendars and choose the meals and recipes based on schedules, variety, cravings etc. If he’s not home for dinner some day, we usually make a bigger dinner (like a casserole) the night before, so I’ll eat the leftovers when he’s gone.

What's your definition of meal prep? I spend about 30 minutes max each day for cooking my dinner and usually cook for 2 days, thus reheat my food the next day. All other meals are cold: good slice of bread with cheese or something else, fruits, yogurts, oats, etc... takes no time to do at all.

I'm just starting out too. I plan my meals and shop for groceries one week at a time.
