Get up 30 min earlier. You can do this!

I get it....I work 12+ hour days. I have 2 kids, a new puppy, and no family near to help when times get busy! The best thing I have done for myself is learning to plan. I plan my meals, I plan my workouts, and then I force myself to stick with it. That's the hardest part, the forcing yourself to not make excuses. I am not a morning person, and I am exhausted when I get off work, so I give myself grace on the days I work. However, I still log my meals when I work, and I also try to get out for a walk when/if things are slow, or on my lunch break.

I think it’s going to have to be a full mentality change for me. Many of our meetings are surrounding meals, and shockingly, I’m able to stick to low cal/carb. I have a body that has to workout...I don’t know how to balance that with the length of days.

Make sure you log your meals on the days you work, drink a lot of water, and stay at or below your calorie goal. Don't be too hard on yourself for not being able to workout when you have long shifts. 4 days of working out is great! Before COVID, I would do double workouts. I would either do yoga or lift weights in the morning, then in the evening I would go to a cardio class at the Y. Now, I tend to stick to lifting 3 times a week and 1 day of cardio.

True, but working that many hours in one day typically means that there are full days off to enjoy that one life :) For me, I'd rather work the 12-14hr days and have four full days off a week. Where I work, the pay period ends on Saturday and starts on Sunday, so I often get lucky enough to have 5-6 days off in a row. Buuuut the downfall is, it's tough to plan and stay motivated to workout.

True - but I’ve choose to work in the nursing home industry and leading my team is critical in my opinion.
