Miscellaneous eating ....as in, in addition to your daily meals but odd mouthfulls of food.
I have a 1year old and for example when trying to get him to eat I sometimes eat a forkfull myself......it would be so difficult to work out so wondered how others do.
I Thought maybe a contingency of 50cals per day maybe.

I always just estimate it. I will add whatever my closest accurate guess is, if I am not sure, I will estimate really high to ensure I didn't mess it up. Random taste tests or couple of chips.. it doesn't matter. The key to calorie counting is counting ALL your calories, so you want to try to be as close as possible, cause those calories add up!0

don't know about you but nibbling the kids food and the odd bit off their plates was a major contribution to my weight gain. obviously it depends what you are eating if its all the fruit and veg then i wouldn't bother but you do need to be honest with your self. one thing idid sometimes do was to give myself a smaller portion to allow the encouraging nibbles. if you are losing weight then what you are doing is ok if weight loss is slowing down this might be something to address. good luck with it all and enjoy for 1yr old they grow up far to quickly into teenage beasts.0

depends if it really is a mouthful - if its pnly 2 grapes i dont bother. If it was a mouthful of them i would include it.0

As seen on here before..."if you bite it, write it"0

Sometimes I don't count the really little things. Tasting one bite of this or that, since I only do that once or twice a day, one spoonful is not going to kill my diet. But if it happens a lot, or it's something that's really calorie rich to where even a spoonful is harmful, I count.0

I occasionally have just one of my daughter's crisps - just for the taste. I wouldn't bother counting that (wouldn't know how to!). And a single teaspoon of the dinner I'm cooking - well I don't think that makes a difference. But if your nibbling exceeds that kind of level, then yes, I'd add some calories to your consumption for this. Particularly if what you're nibbling is high calorie stuff like cheese, fried food, etc.0

Definitely write it down! Once you start thinking "that doesn't really count" it's the start of a slippery slope... soon whole packets of crisps or bars of chocolate "don't really count... cus I was in a hurry/hungry/there was nothing else in the house" etc etc.
Also, if you see that you aren't losing as much as you expected to your diary will tell you why. It helps to be able to look back over it - at least it's helping me see where I go wrong!
I used to pretend my kids' food was a plane or train and make appropriate sound effects to encourage them to enjoy eating. Sounds silly but it works lol. Maybe it'd be easier for you to avoid eating extra at all that way.
Good luck0 -
I don't usually track those calories on the site but I keep a mental tally. I'm losing at a pretty good clip (2-3 lbs a week) and have been for the past 2 months. I usually end my day with a deficit of 200+ calories so I have room for those few <50 calorie bites/day. I know a lot of people will track down to the packet of sugar or sprinkle of cocoa in their coffee but I drove myself nuts on WW trying to do that and had problems sticking to the program.0
