we all eat when we are emotional but dont you find that you feel overwhelming guilt after we indulge i tend to think of that guilt before i eat for comfort and it puts me off eating for an emotional crutch0

I am not sure if i can label mine as emotional eating to numb pain or so forth but I have noticed that I will eat and feel bad immediately afterward! not only mentally either, physically like i am overstuffed no matter how much or how less I have eaten.0

I used to use the guilt thing to avoid the emotional eating but sometimes it just fails - like this week, so I can feel your pain. Open that refrig door and make sure that there is an alternative in there - grapes, apples, etc. Pull both out (the cheese/bread and the grapes) and say out loud "I am not going to make this worse - I am going to take care of myself" and reach for the grapes, etc. This usually works for me. Good Luck0

I too have started to be aware of how I will feel once I have over induldged and thus I prevent myself from doing it! And feel prouder for making the right choice at the time0

Bread and Cheese are defo my comfort foods too.. i LOVES them and its hard to imagine a life with out my 2 great loves..
the only way i can avoid eating them - and i WILL eat them if no one is around, if i am bored, if i am upset.. any excuse really to eat bread and cheese and im there... but yeah the way i avoid them is to simply NOT buy any of either.. no bread in the house, No cheese in the house.. i do however buy Laughing cow extra light cheese triangles.. only 20 cals each and a decent enough substitute in time of NEED... but without having any bread in the house i find i dont eat the triangles much...
and whenever you think about eating the bread and cheese try and remember... your not depriving yoruself of bread and Cheese by Not eating it , you are in FACT ensuring you are a happier healthier person by not eating it... hopefuly by NOT eating it, eventually you wont need to comfort eat as you will be happier in yourself..
Good Luck XMX0 -

Its something i really struggle with to me when i get stressed or overwhelmed its like a lot of intense loud noise in my head and when i eat something it stops the noise i know its a wierd explanation but its what it feels like to me complete uncontrolable chaos and noise then i eat and everything seems to stop for a moment and i can collect myself a little ,,,,,,,,,,,,
so i did some thinking about this and my binges where i feel zombiefied while just grabbing at anything that is sugary cheesy carby and filling and realised im not going to stop it so i have to plan for it ive picked relativly low calorie things that i enjoy like boiled eggs apple slices and a biscuit and as soon as i feel the hunger and stress come on i eat one of those things followed by allot of water and i eat it slowly,,, i will either calm down and go wow i didnt need that cheesy sandwich after all or i will still feel like i intensly need it and if that happens i allow myself to have it because i know if i dont i will just end up more stressed and do less excercise possibly eat even more and basically dig a bigger hole for myself and the next day i will work just that bit harder to make up for it or eat just that bit less over the week ,,,,,,,,,,,, this stratergy seems to work for me i hope it might be able to help you even just a little0
