I drank a glass or 2 (okay the whole bottle!!!) of wine on Saturday night. Ahem. I was being very hormonal :blushing: and it tasted good.
Anywho, I was putting on my make up when somehow i managed to rip out half of my eyelashes on my rt eye with my damned eyelash curler. If you know me, my eyelashes are my pride and joy. I'm a mascara freak and I refuse to think about my half eye-lashed eye or else I will cry.
PLEASE tell me they will grow back! PLEASE! I keep reading that NO they won't and that I'm screwed.

My aunt ripped her eyelashes out with her eyelash curler and she now has eyelashes, so I would say yes, they will grow back....not sure how long it takes though =\0

Eek. They def will. I pluck a couple lashes that always grow ABOVE my lash line and those little sh!ts never fail to return.
In the meantime, false lashes!0 -
they do. your eyelashes will naturally fall out and they grow back when that happens. So give it time. they will grow back. I've ripped out mine before. now they are fine.0

I seem to grow a new eyelash every day. They are always falling out into my eye, painful buggers. They do grow back.0
-
I had the same problem and a few lashes were just shorter than the others, but they grew back and everything is how it should be now. I don't know how it is if you really "rip" them out..0

Time Frame
Pulling out eyelashes or plucking them means that the eyelashes that were in the active growth or transitional phases will not be equipped to start new growth as quickly as one that was lost naturally at the end of its resting stage. But, no matter what phase the eyelash is lost in, it will eventually grow back. It can take weeks or months before you have a new eyelash, depending on when it was lost.0 -
sounds odd, but i sometimes pull mine out when i am stressed. i dont even realise what i am doing till its too late and i have gaps in my lashes. sounds very odd i know! but anyway, they always grow back, dont worry.

In my younger, crazier days I once got into a fistfight and the girl somehow managed to rip out a small patch of my eyelashes.(!?!). They grew back. She still has a scar above her eye.:ohwell:0

do the other side to match you never know it might catch on!! lol0

they definitely grow back. So do eyebrows. Anyone who says they don't has obviously never pulled them out, burned them off (accidentally standing too close to a candle) cut them while bored and clipping coupons, etc. Been there, done it all, they definitely grow back.0

Of course they'll grow back, think how many times you've had an eyelash in your eye. Hair is constantly coming out and regrowing, unless you actually have scar tissue or something done to stop the hair from growing (Like electrolysis) then it just grows back. Think about your legs and when you epilate/wax them, you yank the hair out, and they still come back, that's EVERYWHERE you have hair. If it does change them, it will only make them thicker or darker, which is why you're advised never to pull out arm hair (on your arm, not underarms)0

when i was about 5 i took my mom's tiny scissors in her bathroom and i cut half mine off... CUT IT OFF! wtf was i thinking ,lol. but yes yes yes they def grow back!0

Thank you all. I feel relieved now. I put on some mascara this morning and I'd say it's about 1/3 of the inner part of the eyelash. So I tried spreading the ones I have now and it's not too shabby. I'm never drinking ever again! :drinker:
I read vaseline helps them grow faster so I've been slopping it on at night before bed. Scary picture.
Trud72- yeah ok. I'll go do that now.
supperhippie- I knew there was a reason I wanted to meet you!0 -
Burnt mine off once, drunk, and some of my fringe. All back good as new :-)0

Haha..
Reminds me of a story when I was a younger crazier version of myself and I was at a party of a friends. Everyone goes back to his place and everyone is wasted. One of the guys passes out and we shaved off his eyebrows. It makes me crack up every time I think about it!!!0 -

Aww. You are so sweet! :blushing: I use Vaseline as an eye makeup remover and it is the best! I have really thick and long eyelashes too....Maybe you are on to something with this Vaseline. Who new it had so many uses!0 -
I pull my lashes out its called trichotillomania aka trich, it's a hair pulling disorder. Usually it's triggered by a really tragic event that occurred in you life. I am 31 and have pulled since I was 12( my cousin was murder and then a month later my papa died). The only way I was able to do was I had to force myself to realize when I had my hands at my lashes and then fight the urge to pull..right now I wear fake eyelashes and it keeps my hands away from my eyes. The lashes well grow back normally it takes me about 4 to 6 months, unfortunately mine don't look like they use to before I started pulling but at least they do grow back. If you want to try the fake eyelashes try number 53 they are very natural looking use the strips not the singles. I hope this helps anyone out there with this disorder and remember that your not alone .0

Note to self: NEVER use an eyelash curler.
Thanks for that...Glad my eyelashes are already curly! lol0 -
Phew! Glad I never bought an eyelash curler. I always thought it looked suspect. With my luck, I would have done the same thing but sober!
I would consider buying fake eyelashes until they grow back. You can get them cheap ($5+). Although there are some that look over the top, most of them look very natural.0 -
When I was kid, I went to school with a little girl that had a nervous habit of pulling hers out. She's an adult now,and she has eyelashes...soooo I would say you will be ok0

they will grow back!0

Be careful with the Vaseline. Some folk swear by it as an eyelash conditioner. Others state it can mean the ducts become clogged & inflamed & yes they will grow back. Eyelash extensions are reapplied after 4wks as eyelashes have a 30-60 day growth cycle.0
-
While you wait for them to grow back you could sport a fashionable eye patch.0
-
If you are using fake eyelashes, I'm sure those help... And whatever you were using to curl your lashes, stop, and don't ever use it again. They will grow back, in time, it will just take a while. For those people that have a disorder where they pull them out purposely, over a long period of time, they have a high chance of them not growing back....ever. And since this is not the case with you yours will grow and come back...Read this article to know more about natural remedies to grow back eyelashes:0

My eyes are watering just reading this thread..0

They grow back. And it's time to replace your eyelash curler.0
-
I ripped half of mine out today. Feeling pretty awful but I'm beginning to have hope that they will grow back!0
-
I have a nervous habit of pulling out my eyelashes and had read about castor oil or vitamin E oil helping them grow back. I used both alternating the two every other night rub on the lash line and it seems to help them grow back faster than without. Good luck!0
-
they grow back, no worries. I speak from experience.0
-
Eyelashes fall out and regrow on a regular basis, don't worry. I agree that you need a new eyelash curler pronto!0
