Apple Watch - active/total calories - which to log?

I do not have my Apple Watch synced to MFP. I plan to add workouts manually. Should I only be adding the active or total calories for my workout?
Thank you!
Thank you!

I would say the active calories.
I notice that if I log something manually, it calculates roughly the same as the active calories.1 -
Apple Watch and MFP don’t integrate well. Download the free version of Pacer. Link Pacer to MFP and Apple Health. In MFP, select Pacer for steps. Once you log an activity in your Apple Watch, open Pacer and sync. In MFP, you will see 2 adjustments, one from Pacer, one from Apple Health. Delete the Apple Health bc it’s a duplicate.
In MFP, set your activity level to “not very active”. Your “move calories” in Apple Watch will be your adjustment. If you set your activity level to something more, the number in MFP will most likely be over-projected. Right now, my TDEE in MFP and Apple Watch are roughly the same.2 -
I am assuming you mean the active vs total calories burned during a specific workout, if I am correct in my assumption, I would add the active calories. We burn calories all day long, the active calories are what you burned over and above what you would have just existing during that same time you were working out. So if I workout out for 30 minutes my active calories for that time is about 150 and total is about 200, the 50 I would have burned anyways just doing my normal activities not working out, and that is accounted for in my activity setting in MFP.
Hope this made sense 😀3
