Hi everyone! I’m new to this community-pleased to meet all of you! I’m looking to lose 100lbs and get healthy. I’m 46 as of last week with a 4 yr old and realized I had zero energy to keep up with him. I don’t want to go down the road of becoming couch-ridden. I want to be filled with energy. I want to feel healthy and just BE healthy! Good luck to al of you in your journey :-)

Hello and welcome. Its kinda long but hopefully I can Motivate you with my story. Feel free to friend request me if you like.
I was into body building up through my mid 20's, worked heavy construction into my mid 30's and started trucking in my mid/late 30's to present. I have also been a firefighter / medic since 2007 so I was always in good shape until the last couple few years leading up to my wake up call. After several years of not seeing a regular physician, terrible diet, sedentary, high stress job and lifestyle I wanted to get back in shape but safely. Time to get set up with a Physician.
October 18 2018 was my wake up call and the beginning of my "Journey". My new physician came strait out told me professionally but point blank I was MORBIDLY OBESE, My height 6'4"/168 cm, weight 308 lbs/140kilos. My lab work; A1C 7.6 total cholesterol 265 LDL (bad) 180 HDL (good) 48 triglycerides 208. My physician also diagnosed me as Diabetic, and advised me that I'm at high risk of a heart attack or stroke. She said I need to do something if I want to be alive when I'm 50 I was 48. Since Diabetes and all of the diseases and complications run in my family I am well aware of what is in store for me; along with cardiovascular issues I also had amputations, blindness, kidney failure/dialysis, chronic infections, the list goes on. Bottom line a slow painful death to look forward to.
That day I started getting my act together.. I went on a calorie cut, switched to a ketogenic lifestyle, power walked every night, by January 2 2019 I was 255 lbs 114kilos lab work A1C 5.6 Total cholesterol 122 LDL 81HDL 32 Triglycerides 43. I accomplished this over the holidays, living in western New York, with age and genetics weather, work conditions against me. Friday March 15 2019 I weighed 230 lbs, I KILLED DIABETES just like Sarah Conner killed the terminator in 1984. My weight and labs have continued to improve, I have much more energy, I feel awesome every day, and I will never go back.
I dropped a total of 95+ lbs of fat, added approximately 20 lbs of lean muscle and I have the metabolic health of a 28 year old male and I am a couple months away from a very young and healthy 50. I have maintained it for over a year and a half and continue to improve; and yes that's even with the world wide Covid shutdown.
My latest life goal; I am currently working on a degree in exercise and dietary science so I can teach others how to preferably stay healthy and how to undo the damage they have done to their bodies.
Feel free to reach out to me if I can help.
Bob Wolf.
