Hello everyone, i'm new and lost

Hi everyone hope you are all well. so i originally put weight on due to having a child that spent 99% of his first 3 years in hospital. so i lost alot through slimmingworld but found as soon i wanted to induldge in some regular food i put it all back on. so here i am joining today and going to give calorie counting a go but to be fair im totally lost and not sure where to start.
i've got some weight loss shakes to help me to start my journey and to help me get used to calorie counting as thats 2 meals pre counted for me.
any tips would be great

Hi and welcome! I’m so sorry to hear about your son. I hope he is ok now. The way I approached MFP is I treat it kind of like a game- how much can I eat with my allotted calories I have each day. I take foods I like and try to find a healthier, lower calorie way to make it. I’ve also tried to make lifestyle changes with food instead of dieting. Dieting never worked for me. I always put it right back on. And getting started maybe this will help, I plan ahead what I’m going to eat each day the night before. I usually pick the wrong foods if I wait til I’m hungry to eat because I grab whatever is easiest. Please feel free to add me as a friend and we can encourage each other. You can do this. Take it one day, one meal at a time. 😊4
