Hey all! My name is Mari, it's midnight now in Atlanta and obviously the best time to make life-changing decisions LOL
I am an absolute beginner, never counted calories or monitored my weight or health really. I'm not physically very active either. My body must've gotten really fed up and picked up a few dozens of pounds in the past couple of years.
I hope tomorrow is "that tomorrow" I've been waiting for to start eating healthy and get rid of these extra pounds!
I don't plan or expect to change my eating habits overnight though. I don't think that would be realistic. One step at a time!
If there are any beginners like me here I would love to start this journey with you, guys!
I would really appreciate any advice from the experienced people too!
Let's get that body we've been dreaming of!!! 😎

And now today is your tomorrow. You've overcome the first hurdle which is to decide what you want and make a step in this direction. Counting calories WORKS. I once lost about 100 lbs. and caught myself when I put 40 of it back which is where I am now. Managed to shed 12 of that since starting this up. (if my stats don't show that its because I started on mynetdiary before I came over here for the way better food database).

By my estimation the first 2 or 3 days is hard depending on how your diet was before. I always worked out, I just ate too much. And a lot of the stuff I ate was toxic junk.

I'd recommend entering in all your stats, seeing what your calorie load is and offset it with a little bit of exercise. Walk, ride a bike, do yoga in front of the TV.......something. That will give you some extra calories to consume while you are making the adjustment. I'm a few weeks back into this and I'm totally adjusted to the amount of food I thought was way too little before.

The great news is though that once your mind is where it needs to be the rest is just follow through. You got your mind in the right place and made the choice to check this place out and bravely put yourself out there. It's motivating to meet your goals and see that progress daily.

You can do it and there are lots of people here who will help and motivate you.

Aloha from Hawaii🍍🌺🌴My name is Alona. I started this app a more than a few years ago, but stopped when I got to busy with work and family. I started again using the app when I started fasting (12:12) about a week ago. Getting used to again logging my meals and exercise, etc. We all can go through our journeys together😊

Thank you all for your comments! It makes me feel good to know I'm not in this alone!
I'm still figuring out this app and how it works so ignore me if I do something weird 😂
@Hagensieker thank you for sharing your experience! I was always very pessimistic about counting calories, thought it was another unhealthy trends. Again I don't have any knowledge or experience in this. So thank you for the great advice!
