Hello and welcome here!
Premium costs money and free doesn't, Basically, premium offers a few additional settings. Most of which you'll likely never need, and especially not as a beginner. Actually, I'm here since 2014 and never felt the urge to. Sometimes I add a random, non-specified amount of vat, protein and carbs, or substract it from my total for various reasons. This is a premium feature, but there are also database entries for exactly this. Thus it's not needed to have.2 -

I'm on the premium because I like all the control over my numbers but I made that decision years ago and might not make the same one today.0
