Ok,
Having grown up eating Bass, Brim, and catfish all fried of course. Fish is a bit of a challenge for me.

I really enjoy eating fish, I like the way it flakes. So far, I have managed to pan fry tilapia with herb butter and crumbs on it and enjoy the Sea Cuisine Whole grain battered Tilapia.

Other than that my fish intakeis limited to Mrs. Pauls Breaded Flounder.

I want some help.

My only thing is that it can't taste "fishy", you know what I mean?

Please share tips, recipes, non-fishy fish choices.

We've just recently discovered grouper. I lightly spray with "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter", sprinkle with Old Bay, and put it in the oven. Very tasty! We do pretty much the same thing with Sockeye Salmon. Love the flavor!

Experiment with some marinades. I like sockeye salmon with 1 tbsp of Drew's Smoked Tomato Dressing/Marinade drizzled over the top and baked or gently microwaved.

Any white fish shouldn't taste too fishy.

my husband and I enjoy b-b-qing fish, mostly salmon with some lemon pepper or fresh lime juice squeezed on.

Funny to me deep fried is what makes fish taste fishy to me....

Buy your fish fresh if you live by the coast, if not then frozen because it was probably frozen right after it was caught. In most grocery stores they sell thawed frozen fish....if it has been thawed for too long it gets old and "fishy"

If you fish is fishy - you have bad fish!

    LOL

I bake and poach my fish.
I also like a white fish with chickpea ragout now and then. http://www.womansday.com/Recipes/White-Fish-with-Chickpea-Ragu-Recipe.html
I also like flounder piccatta http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/flounder-piccata-with-spinach-10000001714549/ I make this one all the time.

Love fish! Tilapia is one of my faves .... never tastes fishy and can be prepared numerous ways. I usually like to put some of the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray on it, season it lightly with sea salt and sometimes some various McCormick seasonings, wrap it in foil and grill it.

Also, my wife, who is not a huge fish fan, has recently decided that she likes amberjack. Haven't tried preparing that one at home yet, though.

cod or haddock would be a good choice. They are both commonly used in "fish n chips" and are delicious without the the batter. Halibut would also work, but it can be expensive.

My favorite Fish to eat is . . .. SWAI, Tilapia, cod, salmon, shrimp. .. I buy most of mine at walmart, except for my salmon which I get at costco. . . I have a tendency to put cayenne on everything. .. But fish I either cook it on the stove with a little olive oil, cayenne, lemon pepper, basil, or parsley, a sprinkle of progresso italian bread crumbs. .

Salmon I cook in the oven or the micro with just pepper and cayenne, perhaps basil. . love it.

    Wish you luck.

Me Too! I Absolutely Love catfish I could eat everyday but I also fry it, last month I brought quite a bit but didn't this time do to the frying. but I brought alot of Salmon...Do you like that? It's not fishy. I put lemon pepper and a spuirt of lemon juice and bake it in the oven 10-12min tops not too long or it'll be dry'

You can get a bag with 4 individually vacuum wrapped pieces at Walmart...usually in the freezer next to the fish counter.

I love my fish Broiled. Tilapia is my favorite with a little salt, pepper and paparika. Or try fillet Red Snapper Broiled, season to taste and yes try different marinades. Most importantly, enjoy your food:)

One of our family favourites is to poach salmon in water with some lemon juice in (or wine if you have the calories). While that's cooking, cook some pasta and steam some mushrooms and courgettes. When they are cooked, put the salmon in with the pasta and use low fat soft cheese to melt into a sauce, add the veg and hey presto - ready in under 30 mins and very yummy.

Blackened. This is a great way to hide fishy flavor without breading. But mix your own seasoning or be sure to check the salt content when buying because most will have salt as the main ingredient.

One nice "classic" combo I learned from a French man : butter shallots, and white wine.

Shallots are awesome. Like onions, only different. More subtle.

And the wine is crucial : it pulls all of the yummy cooked flavors off the pan and into the food. And you don't count the wine calories, because the alcohol all boils away.

Melt the butter in a pan over med-high heat. Add chopped shallots and cook until they start to get transparent. Add the fish (I usually use some white fish for this.) Towards the end, make sure the pan is hot and pour in maybe 1/2 cup white wine. It should boil and make noise. Using a spatula or similar, be sure to scrape any browned bits off the pan bottom : the wine should make them come loose. Once the wine is boiled away, you're ready to serve.
