I love the night. I haven’t noticed a trend. Overall I think anxiety and depression have generally increased with Covid. At night everything gets quiet and there’s not a lot of distraction so people can focus on their emotions more. Could be that.3

For me, it's the exact opposite. I wake up with that depressed feeling to start the day on. At night, I fall asleep inside a book.
But I do have constant munchies at night, maybe that's part of it? 1 -

I’m usually tapped out by midnight because I’m up with my kids in the morning but if I stay up late I’m definitely eating late night snacks, if not I go to sleep with hunger pains. But I’m usually asleep by 10:00-11:00 but usually love the night because it’s so quiet.1

As someone who deals with insomnia and, let's face it, poor sleep hygiene on occasion, I feel you @TheLastMrBig.
Have you talked to your doctor about working on this from a few different angles?
Mental health, sleep, nutrition and exercise all work hand in hand. It's about finding the right combination of support for YOU.
I hope you get there seeing as it sounds, as you said, miserable right now. Sending you all the positive vibes from Canada to wherever you are 🤗

i had insomnia when i was kid. starting about 13 or 14 i think. anyhow it lasted until i was in the army.
back then it was depression. sounds similar to what you've got.
once i got out of there it mutated into early waking.
i still deal with that even now. sometimes it's depression based. sometimes it's just random.
usually go through cycles where it increases in intensity. i normally wake around 6. then it'll move backwards to 5 for a week. then back to 430. then back to 330. then 230. and when i come awake it's usually entirely so there's no getting back to sleep again after. if I'm stressed or depressed it's awful. especially with the lock downs. most times i just get up and go driving around. staying in bed thinking about things only makes it worse.
anyhow nothing ever helped me. diet. losing weight. drinking more water. adjusting vitamins. going to bed earlier. going to bed later. melatonin. nothing.
except the doc put me on trazadone for it and that's the only thing that's ever helped. it still helps. i just have to remember to keep taking it. i fully recommend talking to your doc about it if you're desperate for good sleep.5 -
