I am having a problem eating my calories

Since I have started using this site and monitoring what I eat I can not bring myself to eat that much. I used to think that 1200 was nothing but now that I watch what I eat it seems like so much plus when they add on 400-600 calories from what I burn in exercise a day. I am ending every night with 600-800 left over. I don't want my body to go into starvation mode but what can I do to make it closer to what it wants me to eat.

Handful of nuts, protein shakes, a couple ounces of cheese. Those all add up fast.0 -
it's hard not to want to get those extra calories in, but it does slow down your weight loss efforts
your body needs at least 1200 calories a day to do so.
i know , I've been there
there's always a light at the end on a tunnel
fresh fruit, nuts, protein is key to building muscle0 -
I had a big workout feeling like I could go on forever and logged it in and yippee I get to eat a huge dinner I was so excited.
I'm laughing now oh the irony. lol happy happy joy joy lol
I think these workouts are shortening the oxygen to the brain. Lots of laughs today.
Anyhoo, that's the beauty of it don't you think?
Today I finally got it.
Enjoy!!0 -

eat more guilt free.0 -
I just don't stress about the extra calorie allowance that exercise gives you. I consider them my make it through the night rewards. If I'm hungry after supper and I have a calorie 'bank' because of my exercise during the day, then I eat, if I'm not hungry because supper was satisfying enough, I don't eat and just don't use the extra calorie bank.
I have trouble with reflux during the night depending on how late I eat and what I eat, so, I don't purposefully eat just because I have extra calories available for consumption.
I like to wait and see what I'm having for supper and how many calories it'll absorb before I start eating up my exercise calorie bank.
But, I understand that there's no such thing as 'carry over' on calories, either!0 -
hmm, I've found that walking and or running sometimes makes me burp alot. Seriously, from that it seems to rid me of any acids or reflux if that makes sense.
If I go a long time without steady walking my stomach acid will start doing its thing.
I will say it is essential to eat. If you burn 200 in a workout and dont replace it the reverse affect will happen.
There may not be any calorie carry over but there is a "burn carry over" . After working out , the next day your body is going to continue to burn at a higher level the normally. So it will not only burn the 1200 calories but more. Otherwise you could end up weak, loosing muscle, starve mode.
I hope that helps0 -
Wish I had that problem... :grumble:
Breakfast: SlimFast Shake (190), 1/3 packet of Special K2O (10)
Lunch: Chicken Curry (360), 8-oz coffee with skim milk (35), Madeleine cookie (80)
I'm already at 675 - more than halfway through my calorie recommendations without exercise, and it's not even 1:00 PM!0 -
What kinds of food are you eating now?? I can do 1,200 calories in my sleep. :laugh:0

I didn't know that your body would reverse itself if you ate less than 1200 calories. Not that I would ever have that problem. Wow, I'm learning already.0

hunny where are your fruits and veggies?? Add a cup of berries to breakfast, a big salad to lunch and maybe some broccoli or green beans to dinner. I'd add in more snacks too. yogurt, crackers and cheese, some nuts, fruit, veggies and dip, etc etc etc0
