Daily Exercise? Ha! Not Happening.

I am probably not trying as hard as I could be, but at the same time--I can't do the JM Ripped in 30 DVD every day. I just can't. I did it today and tomorrow I will be too wiped out to try again. I know I'm not going to reach my goals working out every other day and that I won't ever be able to do JM without pausing it without continuous effort. I have zero endurance. Running to the mailbox 70 feet away and back is hard for me. But on the other hand, I have a good deal of muscle. Sadly not in my stomach area, but my legs are very solid.
Recommendations on how to build up to daily JM? Or what to do while I'm doing it every other day? Your story? Help!

telling yourself you wont reach your goals is a sure fire way not to reach them. keep doing your thing. you will slowly improve over time.
you didnt get out of shape in a week. you wont get in shape in a week either.0 -
Can you do something else? If that has strength training in it you probably shouldn't do it daily anyway.
If it helps, I'm about to go run before I make dinner because I know that if I make dinner first there is no WAY I am going out there, and I need to get my butt in gear and do it.
Anything's better than nothing!0 -
If it is difficult to walk to the mail box and back maybe you could set a goal to walk to the mailbox and back twice to get some exercise and then maybe you could walk to the corner and back and just keep increasing your exercise that way. Also, you don't have to do JM everyday. You could find another workout to do too. It's okay if you can't work out everyday at this point, you may need to work up to it.0

You don't have to "workout" every day. Do heavy workout days and then intersperse them with light days. So on your light days walk your dog (if you have one), do a gentle bike ride, etc.
I think it is important to "move" everyday, even if it's just for 15 minutes. My current goal is to do just that, "move" for 100 days straight. I won't exercise hard every day but on light days I'll walk the dog, ride my bike, do some pushups and situps, etc.
Good Luck, just set your mind to it..you can do it!0 -

I am doing a rotation of JM videos.
My only tips are
-Don't pause it. If you need to take a break, take a break but if it's pushups, stay in the pushup position (the up position not the super hard position) and use your knees or if it's using weights that has you needing to stop (like me), just put them down and continue to do the move.
-Modify, modify, modify... if you can't do cardio like jump rope, just bounce on your toes but don't come off the ground. Butt kicks, just lift your feet, don't actually draw them backwards. Skaters, take them slow and steady. Any sort of cardio, if you need a break just march in place while you catch your breath. Etc. I sometimes I have to modify the modified version but it's worth it.
The second day sucks but it is worth it to just do it. Even if you have to take more breaks, do less reps, etc, just get through the second day and the rest becomes cake because you know if it's hard you can do it. You start believing in yourself. And it also helps your diet because doing something so hard even when you don't want to makes you realllllly think about what you put in your mouth to cancel out that calorie burn!
I started JM videos at 221 pounds and I am now 210 and they still kick my butt and I still take tons of breaks and maybe even want to cry in the middle of them but I make it through.
Also. Find online or buy Yoga Meltdown level 1 from Jillian and do that on days you don't feel like working out or don't feel like you can. It's like fast paced yoga with strength training, but there's no cardio and it's a nice stretch and you can do it near bedtime without getting all worked up. I had one day where I just couldn't bring myself to exercise and I was crying about how bouncy my boobs were (can't wait till they get smaller, haha, and can anyone say PMSing???!) but that night I decided to at least do the yoga one because it's short and less impact. And I was so glad I did it really boosted my mood!
All you can do is try! Do yourself a favor and at least TRY to do it tomorrow. If you have to shut it off 5 minutes in, at least you tried! You never know, you might feel like it's super easy tomorrow. Who knows!!!0 -
you CAN do 30 DS every day. I'm 55 years old and 180 lbs if I can do it, you can do it. Eat lots of protein, light healthy meals. GALLONS of water. Take a multi-vitamin every day. After the work out take a warm shower, warm as you can stand & let the water massage your muscles - then finish with cool water, as cool as you can stand. I take ibuprofen during the day if I'm too uncomfortable but now I start with one & see if that helps (and it does) Go to bed earlier than usual, get a GOOD NIGHT'S REST and here's the most important part
GET UP AND DO IT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. I drink a 6 oz low fat smoothie while I walk my dogs (about 15 mins) then I jump right into it before I can change my mind.
JUST DO IT. Don't think about it, don't list the reasons you can't - IF you can't finish at first, at least TRY. But saying 'I can't, I just can't' IS NOT TRYING. That's giving up.
YOU CAN DO THIS. If I can do it, anyone can. But it IS tough. You have to want it.
I feel SO good - so tough & sexy when I go to work after shredding AND it makes me feel .. energized and challenged - after work, I want to exercise more! I was NEVER like that before.
The more challenges you tackle and win, the easier the next one gets. JUST DO IT! You can DO anything if you don't say 'I can't'
I'm doing the shred every day this month. Also November, February, April and June. You are welcome to do it with me.
Take your measurements & let's rock this - you're not gonna let Jillian Michaels push you around are ya?0 -
Well I have no funding so I can't go buying stuff right now I'm unemployed and I thought RI30 was a good option based on the great reviews. I can do it, just not the 5-6 days a week she recommends.
I'll try walking the dogs more. They're old and arthritic but maybe more short walks instead of the fewer long walks.0 -
Dude, take a good brisk walk (like you have somewhere to be) at least 5 days a week for at least 20 minutes a day and monitor your calories. Bare minimum. Things will happen.0

if you have access to stairs, running up them is training for 30 DS. Also a good workout - just start by walking & work up to a faster pace, go until you can't. Next time go 30 seconds longer... etc0
