Hello all.
I just got my wisdom teeth removed 2 days ago and stepped on the scale this morning and I am up quite a bit... is this due to water retention form the surgery or inflammation or something?? I need some advice! I am still on pain meds and face is quite swollen.

It is most certainly water retention and it is likely going to hang around for a couple of weeks. Fat moves the scale very slowly. Water moves the scale quickly and sometimes dramatically.3

I lost weight when I had mine out because I could only tolerate liquids and soft foods and the pain meds make me nauseous.
We’re you fully sedated for your extraction? Do you feel bloated? They usually push mega IV fluids if you were so that would make sense.1 -

Yes I was put under! They used saline for the IV! How long do you think it will take for my body to flush it out? I do feel bloated. I got it done yesterday and weighted myself this morning... I completely forgot about that.

Hey, you just had surgery, iv with saline, swelling and likely a lot less moving. They might also have given you a steroid. All of this increases water weight. Give it time. Maybe 2 weeks or so. Don't panic, really. You only gain actual fat if you're eating too much. Just keep the numbers in mind. To gain 1lbs you need to eat 3500 calories above maintenance. Did you really do that over two days?1
