Am i putting too much pressure on myself trying to see those scales read a certain figure??
Over the past 2 years i have lost about 2 1/2 stone, i am now a comfy size 10/12 (UK size), i am fitter than ever before and really enjoy a variety of exercises most days, i am toned up (not perfect), i have changed the way i eat and am pretty certain this is now a way of life for me..
I do alot of exercise and am very strict about what i eat etc but the weight just doesnt get any lower. I look alot thinner than friends who are the same weight, i have a good slim(ish) curvy figure and am reasonably happy with this........
I weigh myself constantly and get upset when the pounds dont move..... My husband says im daft, nobody else sees your actual weight they see the slim fit person, and that muscle weighs heavier blah blah...
Should i give up weighing in (or maybe just do it once a month) and just focus on my food and exercise... its taking too much brain power all the time just constantly thinking the 'pounds = sucess'!
Your thoughts please!

I would take measurements... In my mind the losing of inches means more then the lose of pounds And you are probably losing inches and the weight just hasn't caught up yet. Try not to weigh yourself as often, if you can't go a month without weighing then go every 2 weeks.0

I don't know about throwing them away, but having hubby hide them for a few months to break you of your obession might be a good idea.
Monitoring is good and healthy, obsessing is not.0 -
I think it's time to not focus so much on the number on the scale, but maybe on some fitness goals you want to achieve. Got a goal in mind?0

If you are fit and healthy, low body fat and a size 10/12 I'd say stay off the scales.
Maybe just check once a month that you are not increasing?
Focus on toning some more and enjoy your new dress size )0 -
Scales are for fishes especially at your size hon
At my size I needed to get some as I have to monitor my loss/gain but as soon as I reach goal size they will be put in the loft.
If you feel good and look good what will a change in numbers achieve?
You have done it girly, be proud :flowerforyou:0 -
Other than the number on the scale, it sounds to me like you are happy with your body the way it is and the way you feel. I wouldn't worry at all about what the scale says :flowerforyou:0

Think about moving the scales to an inconvenient place to weigh yourself, so you don't have ready access to them. You'll probably want to keep them so you can check you aren't getting "off track", especially when Christmas or other celebrations come around0

If you are happy with how you look and feel, don't focus on the number. I was my happiest at 165....some people might think that is really heavy (in fact stupid BMI says I am still overweight at that weight since I am short), but I have a more muscular, curvy build so going by the number alone doesn't reflect how I felt and looked at the time.
My goal was 150, so I kept pushing for it but instead it put too much pressure on myself and I ended up gaining back almost all of the 50 that I had lost. Take your measurements, and be happy with how you look/feel. Maybe weigh in once a month just so you can keep an idea of where you are since we can't always feel it if we slip and let 5 pounds creep back on. Keep up the good work, you're doing great!0 -

I agree.
But at the same time its about how you feel about yourself. is there some significance to a certain weight that you want to be? or was it just a random number you chose as your goal weight?
I am maintaining at the moment, and working on reducing my bf% and toning, maybe this is what you shuld move towards? i havent lost pouds, but i am still losing inches. x0 -
If your weight is in the healthy range for your height, you feel great, and you look great then you probably DO need to quit worrying about the scale so much.0

Give your scales to a good friend or your mom. Check your weight monthly at their house just to stay on top of gains. Other than that, do what you're doing. Go by your clothes & measurements.0

Thanks guys....
I am 5 ft 3 and weigh approx 146lbs....... BMI is about 26 and for my height i think it should be 18.5 - 25... so weight wise should be a bit lower but not too much... I chose my ideal weight purely because it was in the middle of my healthy range for my height, no other reason but a chart! Maybe that chart didnt suit me personally we are all different??
However, from your responses i have decided....
Im going to take my measurements and weigh in on Friday, then hubby is going to hide the scales for a month!
Then im going to focus on running the Great South Run (10 miles) in October... the furthest i can run now is about 7 miles...
Thanks for your words of wisdom :flowerforyou:0 -
