Did anyone find their significant other BEFORE weight loss? Or did options open up much more after you got fit? Genuinely curious

You'll read of all kinds of experiences here in the forums. As for me, I've been partnered with a suitor at every size I've been in the last mumble-mumble years. It has not been a factor or even a topic of discussion...unless I'm the one to bring it up (which I have only done twice out of sheer boredom and curiosity).2

Been in a relationship for 10+ years. We met when I was slightly overweight and sedentary. After my thyroid gave out my weight ballooned quickly to the point I was obese and it took me a couple of years to get my act together enough to lose the excess weight. I lost 43 lbs over 10 months and now exercise regularly, I’ve maintained my goal weight (BMI 23.3) for the past 6+ years. He supported me and never mentioned my weight affecting him negatively, our relationship was strong throughout. When I ask him about it now he says he found me equally attractive obese or not, but he knows I’m much happier and confident now that I’ve kept the weight off. He eventually started exercising with me and even became a runner so we can run together, it’s wonderful! He’s literally been with me through thick and thin!8

My husband and I got together when I was obese. We stayed together for a year or so before I started losing weight and kept it off the first time. He then stayed with me when I regained a bunch during pregnancy and breastfeeding. He's still with me now I'm losing weight again. He's loved me at every weight and he's really supportive of me losing weight because he knows I feel happier and healthier.3

I met my BF when I was at a normal weight, 17 years ago. I started gaining weight gradually, reaching a BMI of 34 last year. He never said anything about my weight, except perhaps a handful of "are you sure you want to do that" when I grabbed a bag of snacks to munch in front of the TV, right after dinner.
I know he was a bit annoyed though, not about how I looked, but about my lack of fitness: every holiday, the hikes I was capable of were shorter and less challenging.
He's proud of my progress. Although he doesn't really like weighing ingredients when cooking, he does it for me. And I'm sure he's happy I can go hiking again now, 44lbs down so far AND a lot fitter.7
