we really just need to make a thyroid support page
Ok so how fast can it strip weight off you while you are dieting and exercising? I was 77.6 on tuesday in clothes at 7am on Saturday I am 73.3. I am concerned at the speed of the loss everyday I have lost 500g to a kg when I weigh myself at 7am. So I am putting it down to my levels being too high, thoughts?

Hyperthyroidism needs to be treated by a Dr if you're not seeing on already. There are causes for it including cancer so please be sure to get checked. I have it to and it's not so fun to deal with. They will put you on medication that will make it hard to loose weight. It feels like it comes to a complete stop. If that's not bad enough, it's hard on your liver and you need to take in extra calcium. It sounds bad but it's worse than leaving it untreated. Leaving hyperthyroidism uncontrolled so that you can loose weight is not a good idea because it could cause damage to your heart. It would not be a good thing if you're skinny but dead. It is tough but I'm sure you can do it.0

I have no thyroid and to prevent cancer coming back (the cysts was golf ball size) I need to be high. I see a specialist every 6 months. I was low because I was forgetting to take the tablets due to my boys being sick now my levels are back up.
My heart rate when I am the level they like rests at about 90 and when I stand it can jump 160ish, when I was pregnant it was resting at 120 and jumping over 180 for no reason. The drs thought i had a clot so I was put onto blood thinners, it was the strain of the twins on my heart plus I was thyroid toxic without being overdosed on thyroxine (eyes would pop out when following a finger with my eyes). currently I am getting no chest pain.
I was diagnosed with bi polar because on the mania caused by having high thyroid levels believe me I hate this I would love nothing more than to be within what is normal but if I go there the cancer may come back. Seriously I will have that risk my entire life because of the size of the cyst. I will NEVER be able to let up. My old oncologist wanted me to see him for the rest of my life and never be handed over to a gp because gps would see me being high and freak out and drop my medication level resulting in me being put at risk. Yeah it is great that the weight is coming off but I am not jumping for joy because it is scary fast, honestly think if I starved myself it wouldn't come off as fast as this! I'm not using it to loose weight I am shocked at home much I have lost. the cancer i had is easy to treat if you catch it in time and they were maybe a week off getting it too late, it had just started hitting my lymph nodes and after that it spreads. I say the cyst was big but the cancer spread beyond the cyst
I have never been as over weight as I was and never dieting with my levels high which is why I am wondering if anyone knows if it can strip it off you so fast. normally when I am high (lower end of high) I am 73kg and I eat like carbs are about to disappear from the world and don't gain.0 -
I lost about 20 lb without trying in a few months. I was eating and a lot since I was ALWAYS hungry. If your #s are high, you will lose more weight. If your dr isn't concerned about your weight loss, I wouldn't be either. I'm glad they caught your cancer in time and that you are doing better.0

I do not have direct experience with hyperthyroidism, but a close friend of mine has it quite severely due to her Grave's Disease. I know for her at least, she can be probably a healthy 130 pounds (she's about 5'8") on a good day, but if she forgets her pill in the morning, she will literally be down to probably about 100 even by 6 that evening. I guess it all depends on the levels you're talking about.0
