I'm 245 pounds and I'm 6foot5, my goal is 2240 a day and I've lost 538 calories today and ate 1490, my net is 952 but I don't understand why it says I have put on a pound on my scales today, I've had alot of protein today but not over my limit, I had a chicken breast sandwich with oatmeal bread, havens cherios for breakfast and for dinner I had steak with broccoli, lettuce, cucumber and homemade chips but only a few, any ideas on what I should change in what I'm eating I know it's not major healthy but it's better than sweets and chocolate, would just like to understand what my net calories mean and why I'm putting on weight, thanks

I wouldn't worry about a 1-day fluctuation in weight. Lots of people here will tell you (myself included, come to think of it!) that their weight will fluctuate like mad over the course of a day - sometimes by as much as 8-10 pounds. Try only weighing yourself once a week, or only paying attention to the 1x/week weigh-ins, and look for a trend.0

Is it just a pound since yesterday? Your body fluctuates several pounds each day which is why they recommend not weighing everyday. Also, if I'm understanding you correctly, you ate 1490cals and burned 538 with exericse? In which case you're not eating enough and your body may be protesting by protecting everything its got.0

I've been steadily gaining as well... I'm thinking it's because my muscles are repairing themselves... I recently upped my frequency and intensity of exercising. Could that be your issue?0

yeah, so far today I've ate 1490 calories roughly and I've burnt 538 just after lunch, but I'm full, perhaps it's what I'm eating!? the only thing I've gone over on today is my vitamin C or D, it's not like I'm skinny as I'm 17stone 3 but I've always ate like this and I've put on all this weight since January and I was 15 stone 7, so confusing lol0

You're eating like a 4'11" girl. Eat up. Hit your target.0

It's weird though as its basically saying eat more than you ever have then you will loose weight? lol0

Thing is, were you exercising and eating the same when you gained? I really doubt it.0 -
Everyone's weight fluctuates from day to day and throughout the day. Make sure you weigh at the same time each day, in the morning before eating anything is best. But you'll see still see fluctuations. That's just the way the human body works. If you continue to gain (more than 2 or 3 lbs) then you might want to look at your diet and see if it needs tweaking.0

Eh I am 4' 11'' and I eat 1470 plus exercice calories !!!!0 -
Yeah, as others have said - 1lb is nothing. I've seen my weight fluctuate as much as +-4lbs due to water intake.0

If you've just started exercising again your muscles will be holding water, 1lb a day is nothing, I can go up 5lbs in a day from morning to night.0

What you should be doing is not fretting over 1lb, as it is indicative of NOTHING. Keep doing what you're doing.0 -

From the look of things, a LOT more a day. Eat until 0 calories remaining. A little over or under (50-100) is ok.0
