I have this cheap watch, I didn't want put too much money in this because I tend to quit exercise often. It can count how many cals I lose based on my gender, age, weight and time I've done on a level of activity. I'm doing the Walk the pounds off with Leslie Sansone thing so I've set my activity level on my watch to "Light". It says that for example I've burnerd 161 cals in 18 minutes but if I try the cal count option with the pulse thingy it says that I only burned 61 cals?! Which one is the good one?

  • if it's reading your heart rate- that's the more accurate one.

No idea! Can you look it up in the HRM/watch's instruction manual?

If that watch/heart rate monitor doesn't use a chest strap, it's likely not all that accurate.

Does it have a chest strap? If not, then it's going to absolute crap at counting calories.

In theory, if you need to touch the watch to get a heart rate reading, then it's basing the calorie count off of when you touch the watch. So if you only touched it once during the whole 18 minutes, thats what it is basing the calorie count off of. If you touch it more then once, it will change depending on what your heart rate is at the time.

Yea.. You need to junk it and get one with a chest strap.

Like I stated previously, it's basing your calorie count off of when you touch it. So if you don't touch it that often, your calorie count is going to be wacked.

Get one with a chest strap.. you'll be much happier.
