No Flour, No Sugar

I am doing Dr.Gott's No flour, no sugar diet. I can't do complicated diets, needed something simple, and cheap. I have found it okay so far, one thing I know is it really limits what you can buy at the store. It is amazing what had either flour or sugar in the ingredients! But I like it because I need carbs in some form, and to be able to have rice, and potatoes makes it bearable. The hardest thing is sweets, but I have a fantastic substitute for ice cream. If you own a mini food processer or a magic bullet, simply keep sliced bananas frozen in a container, put in some slices, a small bit of natural peanut butter, and a splash of milk, and whiz it till it is the consistency of soft serve. It is delicious! I would welcome anyone else's new ideas for this diet.

bananas are chock full of sugar. You have to have carbohydrates during the day. Otherwise when you reintroduce them, you will have negative results. As far as PB...check out PB2...thats what it is called. it is peanut butter powder. Cuts down on the fat, calories, sugar, etc.

Also, try Magic Pop Cinnamon or Strawberry!

I've tried the frozen banana in the food processor recipe and I love it! I use Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk in mine and it tastes like soft serve icecream.

I wouldn't worry about the sugar from the Banana as it's natural (unless you are diabetic or have some other type of metabolic disorder). Natural Peanut butter is a good source of healthy fat, Almond Butter is a great option as well.

I think you are on a good simple plan - stay away from the whites (sugar, flour). You can continue to fine tune it once you get the basics down.

Thanks for the reminder of the "soft serve" - I'll be having that for desert soon :o)

I think what you're doing is commendable! Check out drfuhrman.com for healthy recipes & ideas.
Beware of artificial /processed "food." Sticking to natural food is best. Experiment with your "ice cream" recipes. Try raw almond butter instead of peanut butter. You probably already know that peanuts are not nuts, but legumes.
I heard that frozen banana & mango make a great "ice cream." Personally, I enjoy smoothies. One of my favorite is made with 1/2 to 1c. frozen blueberries, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 T. whole flaxseeds, little crushed ice.
    Wishing you sucess!

I was following this and fell off HARD but i was steadily losing abt 2 lbs a week. i still look at ingredients on things for flour and hidden sugars, and it certainly makes a difference. I am thinking about getting back on it!
  • I agree about the sugar in bananas, you are allowed natural sugars in fruits, both fresh and dried. I made my own "syrup", for polenta this morning with dates, a little hot water, a touch of vanilla and maple extracts, whizzed in my magic bullet, and it was great! I "fried" the polenta by slicing it, spraying it with cooking spray, and baking it it a hot oven till crisp. Very good. This diet lets you have rice, corn meal, potatoes, so it helps you not to feel so deprived. You can also have Ezekial bread, sprouted grain bread, so that helps too.
