Who else hates rest days?although it's super important that we have them as it's when our muscles actually grow and repair but I still hate them😅🙈🙈🙈

Hate them or not, eventually your body will enforce them (ask me how I know :) ).

It's hard for sure. Since running is one of the things I enjoy most in life it is difficult to take days off. I do, but not without a fight.

Your muscles are growing and repairing 24x7 not just on rest days - that's just one of those locker room sayings that has no basis in science but is just trying to get people to manage their training load and recovery better.

Rest is also just one form of recovery.

    What are those?

I prefer 'active rest days' but I have absolutely had days where I'll completely veg.

I just cycle through my various preferred exercises to give parts of my body a break.

I do Ashtanga yoga which has heavy push movements on Sunday through Friday with Thursday as a shorter practice. On Saturdays I do aerial yoga which has virtually no pushing but plenty of pull, so great counterbalance. Sometimes I can fit this in during the week as well so I’ll do yoga both morning and evening.

I ru 3-4 times a week and padel up 1-2 times per week. I schedule at least 1 day every week where I do neither as these are both quite intense on the legs. On those rest days I still try to go for a long walk.

If you hate them, then adjust your programming. One doesn't have to have rest days per sae, just proper load management.

Most people just prefer not to be in the gym or train seven days a week because life.

    Thankyoux

Me haha! But rest is so important. I've learnt this is hard way. Tore my labrum because I wasn't resting my body properly and wanted to keep running even though I was experiencing pain. Now I'm being forced by my body to rest because I physically can't do anything *sigh*

I totally get what you mean though! Moving your body really makes your day so much better - especially if you have a sedentary job.

Movement has become a part of my life. I'm running most days, but if I push myself- like today- I'll just walk tomorrow.

I’ve come to enjoy various types of activity...weights, yoga, swimming, cycling, walking, hiking, stretching, etc. it’s now a rare day that I don’t incorporate done type of intentional
movement. Not every day has to be intense.

This. When I'm really in top form (not lately, sadly), it's hard to take a total veg day. But if I'm that on top of my workouts, then a good long walk is a "rest" compared to my usual workouts.

my gym doesnt open on sundays till the afternoon.

if i havent gotten my workout in by 9am, its not happening.

so by default sunday is always my rest day. saturdays are optional, depending on what we are doing that day. monday-friday non negotiable, without good cause.

I lift 4 or 5 days a week. My rest days include long walks with the dogs. Believe me, when you're training hard five days a week, you look forward to rest days.

I did you know i did loads of chair squatting with weight coz i had my foot in a boot not a cast, I did loads of pushups on my knees loads of core work after about 3 or 4 weeks I went gym tied my foot into footlocks on the bike and the rower so there was no impact or no movement on my foot. Omgoodness it was blummin hard.🤦‍♀️🤣🤣🧡
