Am I getting enough calories??

I started counting calories a month ago, and have been running 2-3 miles three times a week, and I've lost like 5 lbs. Well for the past 2-3 weeks I've been stuck at 210 and can't get below it. My goal has been to net 1700 calories a day... and I'm wondering if maybe I'm not eating enough and going into starvation mode?

Also, if my goal is say 1700, and i burn 400 calories while exercising, should i be eating that extra 400 calories to reach my net goal for the day??

Any help is greatly appreciated! thanks!

You are one of the first people I've ever seen who asked this question and was actually eating a normal amount of calories :) Usually its "i can dont even hit my 1200 limit"

I know you are male and I'm not expert on male stats --- but its possible upping a little will work especially if you only have 25 to lose. I would eat at least half the exercise calories back ---- mostly because tracking food/exercise correctly is pretty difficult and there is a lot of guessing involved.

You might also try staggering your calories... this has helped me in the past.

Thanks for the advice! Anyone else?
  • Yes, I would. It's been working for me. My net goal is 1358 (which I feel like I starve on without exercising) so when I burn 500 calories from exercising, I eat those too. It's really working. Calories in/calories out. Keep it up!

Yeah, another vote for eating exercise calories.

My goal is 1860 a day, and I eat my exercise calories. I've lost 12lbs since May.

    I'm eating mine back. Sometimes I burn 1000+ a day, I eat a lot.
