Why are there never cute "fat clothes"?!

I realize that none of us ever actually wanted to be overweight... but like, why do we not only have to *feel* like we look like crap, but then also get stuck with clothes that just AREN'T HELPING?

It's kind of degrading and makes shopping painful, especially when, I know, for me, I'm an overly sensitive person anyway.

Actually, I bought a really cute black dress a few months back.....It's has thin straps and a really love neckline that just covers my bra.......First time in my life I have ever worn anything like this.....Best thing about it that when you wash it you just twist it up and let it dry that way.......no need to iron.....

Now I can wait to lose this weight to buy more of these......
  • Layne Bryant And Maurice's has really cute clothes! Expensive though...

Maybe they don't want to encourage people to get fat by having nice clothes available. It's one more bit of motivation to drop weight!

they're out there, but you gotta pay the price. Rickis, Le Chateau, all have really really nice clothes. the cheap clothes that are cute are made a dime a dozen and in a huge amount so never a shortage of them.
  • It seems like the plus size clothes I find were designed by people who have never been overweight. What's with the really high waisted stuff (where the seam hits right in the middle of your girls, if you're bigger on top, which lots of overweight women are)? And the ones with elastic on the bottom, right where a larger belly is? And the wild prints, and chiffon fabrics? How about just some classy looking, comfortable clothes that are flattering to a larger figure?

Of course I'm in my 50s, so I'm probably after something a lot different than a young woman.

Kamea-- who is tired of elastic-waist jeans and t-shirts

I've gotten cute things from Maurices but many of their things are too trendy, IMO and poorly made. I do see overweight women who dress very nicely but it takes effort. I don't feel like putting out the effort and honestly probably won't put a lot of effort into my clothes when I lose weight.

Just an FYI, most of the higher-end department stores, Lord and Taylor, Nordstrom, etc. have very nice plus-sized clothes and they run clearances. I got the best tweed blazer 5 years ago from L&T for $19!! You don't have to stick to the plus-sized stores only.

Accessories are a really easy way to make something frumpy look instantly cute. Don't underestimate the power of a chunky necklace or great watch.

My thoughts exactly! Motivation to get out of the bigger sizes!

Learn how to shop on the internet. I promise you, it's SO beyond possible to look amazing even when you're plus size. If you look dumpy, it's your own fault.

Oh, I know, all of the baby doll shirts get me... with the elastic on top that hits in just the *wrong* area. I feel like I live in jeans and t-shirts, and black dress pants and a couple of slightly nicer tops.

Seems like there are only cute "fat clothes" when you are 12 months old.
