Activity/Steps

Hey there. I was wondering if anyone counts chores or shopping as "exercise?" Also I have a job where I'm on my feet 7 hours of the day so do those steps count? So confusing on what is actually trackable lol

Before I had a fitness tracker that counted my steps and synced with MFP, I didn't count chores and shopping as exercise, as these were part of my daily activity level in MFP -- that is, MFP already gave me calories for those steps when I chose my regular activity level. I didn't want to double-count them.

If your job is more active, MFP intends for you to choose an activity level that reflects that. If you do that, you wouldn't count the steps as exercise. MFP's intention is for you to set an activity level that includes your regular activities like chores, shopping, and your job and then log your intentional exercise.

I you have a job where you're on you feet most of the day, that should be reflected and thus accounted for in your activity level base setting.

I never have counted chores and shopping as "exercise"...to me, "exercise" is something deliberate that I am doing for that express purpose that goes above and beyond my routine day to day.

When I logged, I had my activity level set to reflect my general day to day before deliberate exercise...I logged deliberate exercise because it was activity that went beyond the day to day humdrum.

I usually count yard work but not general housework (other than it being included in my step count). If I was doing hard core deep cleaning where I could tell my heart rate was elevated I might consider it...
