Acai berry has been touted by Oprah and other TV stars as the miracle food. Consequently, companies have sprouted up selling Acai berry tablets that are supposed to help you loose weight and detox your system. I understand that this is a good product, BUT BUYER BEWARE!
There are ads all over the Internet that will send you a free bottle of 60 tablets if you just pay the shipping charges which in my case was $3.95. I gave them my credit card number and I received my bottle of tablets. That was about 30 days ago, and since then my credit card has been billed several times for a total of $184! I called my bank and they gave me the number for this company which is FWM Laboratories in Hollywood, Florida.
They claimed that I had signed up for a subscription for these pills which I informed them that I never did any such thing and that I wanted a total refund on all monies except for the $3.95. They said I would hear from them via email within the next 3 or 4 business days so we'll see what happens.
In the meantime I want you to know about this.
If you type "Acai Berry Scams" into Google you will immediately see what I'm talking about. So shame on me as I preach and preach about personal security in Cyber News and then get caught myself!

 They almost got me but i realized the scam before I received the first bottle. I contacted the company and they canceled my order and they refunded my $5.95. I learned a good lesson about this nothing is for free.0

I read that here several days ago and contacted the company. I had already recieved the order and was past the 14 day trial and saw that they had taken 89.00 out of my account.
I was furious!!!
I called them and argued with them for 40 minutes. Finally they said they would refund my 89 dollars. We will see. I got a confirmation number but they said it could take a month depending on my bank.0 -
wow can't believe it. Money returned and in the bank.
Not one of my more prettier moments. All that arguing apparantly paid off. Didnt like to do it but I'm glad they did the right thing.0 -
Oh and I wanted to say thank-you to fitness chick. It was here that I was informed of the scam.0

Well you're very very welcome Twee.
I'm so glad you saw this thread and were able to get all your money back, so sorry you were caught up in the scam!:noway:
When I read it on the computer newsletter I receive I thought with all the questions freqently ask about Acai Berry here and purchasing them online I figured it might be a good place to post it here on MFP and hopefully catch ppl before they place the order.
I think this is most definitely worthy of a bump from time to time so others unaware can keep from getting ripped off!:drinker:

I was scamed and they also signed me up for a support group for 29.95. I got most of my money back but they just sent me a new bottle. When I called they said my membership was cancelled and that shipment was a mistake but could I pay to have it sent back....0

yes I agree. Natures Best has 200mg of caffeine and only 50mg of Acai Berry Extract. Basically another caffeine pill.0
