ok so last year I had to have a vertical c-section b/c i needed additional surgery (ovarian cancer- 10 lb tumor). My scar is about a foot long from about 3 inches above my belly button down to the pubic region. I have a front butt! The scar looks like the butt crack and the stomach is a little poochy on both sides. Does anyone have specific exercises to help alleviate the front butt syndrome? I always do ab work when I workout. I do reverse sit-ups w weights (2 sets of 25, 10lb weight), inverted sit-ups, and the ab crunch machine (4 sets of 25, 40 lb weights) what else can I do? PLLEEEEEEEEAAASSEEE help me!

Oh my son has a front butt, I didn't realise his cancer surgery did that until his girlfriend showed me a picture of his stomach she took on his phone! If I didn't know it was his tum I would totally have thought it was his butt!

Sorry I have no advice except weight loss. I know he has terrific stomach muscles because he is a serious singer, and he can do planks until the cows come home, but he needs to lose about 10 kgs.

    Good luck hun!!

  • I don't know. They cut threw the muscles, not sure if it can be toned but I wouldn't give up if I were you.

They usually just seperate the muscles...

    When was your surgery?

It was in Dec of 2010. I have lost a total of 54 lbs since then, hoping by the time i reach my goal (24 more to go!) my stomach will be flatter and not look like a butt.

It's simple...you CAN'T target that area specifically to lose fat there. You CAN work those muscles for some strength, but to actually get any sort of muscle definition, you need to lose the fat and the way to do that is cardio exercise. Running, biking, walking...any of those types of things are going to help your stomach the most and it may take some time so don't give up.

Can you try Vitamin E, and rubbing it in to your scar? It may help it soften, and perhaps loosen the scar tissue. It worked on my knee scar after my complete rebuild. I just used regular soft-gels, broke them open and spread the goo on my scar. I massaged pure gooey vitamin E into the scar (after the staples came out and healed) 2-3 times daily. Not only did it help the scar, but it was nice in regards to the post-surgery itching. My doc had me doing that so it wouldn't impede the flexion aspect of my PT.

This is the best I can share, I don't want to give you false hope or let you down. So, I think your biggest issue is going to be making sure you keep body fat low, especially if you are one who tends to gain in the belly area.

Scar tissue doesn't stretch like regular skin, so you *may* be stuck with some awkwardness. Of course you can mitigate how bad it'll be. I'd stick to all the regular work: healthy eating and exercise. If you are really concerned about it, talk to your doctor/surgeon, and if anything consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon about making it better if you don't think you are progressing in the way you'd like. Also, give your body some time to shrink up from both the bebe and from the weight loss.

The only person I know of whose had a vertical incision had gastric by pass and he was a big fella. Ended up with some complications and he's forever stuck with the front butt. It was a very rare situation, so I wouldn't even consider comparing you to him.

I wish you the best and also congratulate you on the cutie pie! :)
