Funny, just emailing with someone about this very thing. I eat with ANY emotion! And, one of the best rewards for a job well done ? FOOD. It is hard to break that habit. AND.. others do it also. As a thank you.. they send cookies. I am sure you get what I mean. Ofcourse, they all mean well. However, it would be better if they just gave 2 cookies.. not a dozen. A piece of cake.. not the whole cake.. and so on.
I have not found a way to combat it, except sleep. I was in an argument with my husband last night (and since it is only 5:44 a.m., I guess it's still going.. )-- and I SOOO wanted to get a big fat juicy hamburger!! But, instead, I went to bed super early.. took something good to help me sleep.. and DIDN' T eat
So, no good tip from me As sleep is not going to be a good or logical option ! Thanks for the post, looking forward to more responses!0 -
One thing that might help is to understand personality preference. If you are an intuitive type (Bigger picture thinker) and you have any stress in life there is an automatic tendency to default to your opposite preference which is "sensing type". This means that unconscious elements in you want to be satisfied via the senses....oh yes and that means eating! So if you know that even low levels of stress equals need to satisfy the senses then at least you will understand why you feel the need to eat. To understand and to accept is the first step in being able to act to find either an alternative past time or an alternative low calorie treat. I shifted from beer and crisps to mixed nuts, dried fruit and raisins and lost 32lbs since 1st January......hope this helps...good luck0

i get that all the time!! wanting to binge!! and even wrote about it! i've never overcome it but i'm better at spotting the reason why so it happens less now. i used to binge once or twice a week now i do it once a month. i just substitute. when i'm feeling down and want chocolate, i read a romantic book or watch a soppy movie. i go to sleep earlier so i dont binge at night, when i'm stressed i go for a walk, do some yoga or listen to nice music whilst i knit or write in my journal etc and i make sure i never skip a meal so i have a fighting chance when i'm faced with temptation. and i now have a designated binge day once a month. i watch movies with family and make lots of goodies! and just eat as much as i need to satisfy craving. it is a hard one but like the famous saying goes, will power is like a muscle, the more you work it, the stronger it gets. you get better at dealing with it everytime you resist. xxx0
