Congrats Athena! That first scrimmage is so awesome!

We had a guest coach last night and practice was sweet- got a lot out of it!
  • Had practice last night!
We did our warm ups and then straight into 25 laps! It felt so good! We did races at the end and different drills in between
We did pass the weight ball as we skated and planks (which i cant find in the work out) AND some Tabata squats. Which kick *kitten* every time. It felt so good to be on skates again. We also plaied a few rounds of Queen of the Rink!
  • challenge done, my legs are sore, my thighs in particular

Kinkerbelle - Care to explain Queen of the Rink?

Also, have any of you ever played triple team derby? We played that on Monday.... three teams! It was mass confusion! Everyone got all hyped up and I somehow ended up in a derby girl dogpile but it was fun.

Tonight is ref practice while our higher-level skaters have their group-specific practice. I'm going to have to change my MFP screen name since I hardly run anymore! LOL!
  • Excited for practice tonight.
I'm on top of the daily challenges. I like tonight.

Wednesday: Baseball slide get up with no hands 8x, 30 Jumping Jacks

Queen of the Rink: In layman terms its, who's the last one standing. You dont want to get knocked on their *kitten* or out of bounds.
If you fall you are out, if you go off the track you are out. I see it as a fun way to practice random hits and maneuvering. This also can lead to dog piles Runningathena. Once you are out you do laps til the round is up! We sometimes do it two or three times in a row. People who are injured or could be slightly injured are asked to stay out cause it gets brutal.
Alls fair in love and derby ;)

Ii was proud of myself that our big star girl hit me three or four times before knocking me out. She scares the crap out of me cause shes good. I stayed up on my skates and fought back. Woot!
  • Queen of the rink... we call it Queen of the track... is my FAVORITE GAME!!!!! I love it absolutely! I got 3rd place last time and may have even one but a girl psyched me out and I went for a big hit and she recoiled and I fell LMAO!!!!
  • todays challenge done, piece of cake compared to my other challenge group...but with them together I am aching!

How much is too much? our thighs are allowed to be pushed so far and need a break right? but what about people in boot camp? dont they have to keep pressing on even when they are near exhaustion? How many days in a row do they rest certain muscles?

oh sheesh, these are all the questions that were going on in my head during my workout and i was not sure I would even finish but I did.
  • Woot yesterday was a breeze. Well, the challenge anyway.
So got to practice last night. 25 laps on the inner ring. Water, 15 laps on the outer ring, water, practice whipping off a partner into another girl, and planks, water, 10 quick laps, water, three girl races, water, holding squats.. (which hurt) 15 laps the other direction (ahhhh!!!) and tabada squats-stretch, done--DAMN... love it!

I am surprised i still knew how to function afterward. I'm a little stiff today. Probably going to feel it more tomorrow.
  • Good week. How is everyone doing.. its been quiet here
