plateau - does it work to eat more?

I have been at the same weight for 2 weeks. I am wondering if I need to just eat more calories? Did this work for anyone? It sounds counterproductive but maybe it works? Just need some support from someone it has worked for.

    Yeah it totally worked for me. Was stuck on an 11lb loss for weeks and then I changed my goal from 2lb loss per week to 1.5lb and it gave me an extra 200 cals a day. There was less pressure on me and within a week I was back on track!

    Yes it worked for me. I upped my calories and I broke through the plateau. Also make sure you are getting enough sleep too.

    I added an extra 200 calories to break my plateau and worked out longer.

    Yep. Works. Somedays I still eat 1,200 but as long as you aren't doing it everyday...you'll be fine.
  • I agree. Thanks to MFP's they told me I wasnt eating enough, I upped my calories and they have been sliding off easier! I dont know much about weight loss other than what I am doing and things Ive read but if you have any questions feel free to message me( or add me.)
  • Hit a Plateau...here are some ways to kick back into gear--by Beth Orenstein, everydayhealth.com.

    1. Find an Exercise buddy;
    2. Add Intervals (if you walk, add a 1 minute jog in between walk);
    3. Eat more Fruits and Veggies;
    4. Don't be Hard on yourself;
    5. Stay Hydrated (the more water you drink the more you burn calories and keep metabolism up);
    6. Be Honest with yourself (eat the right portions/serving size);
    7. Reward Yourself (after reaching a goal - go out with friends, buy shoes, etc.);
    8. Don't Skip Meals;
    9. Sneak in more exercise (take steps instead of elevator, walk while talking on the phone, etc.);
    10. Learn a New Exercise

    I hope this helps!! :flowerforyou:
  • For me, varying my calories has worked best for me. In a week, I'll do 2-3 days at my low end, then up it 200-300 calories for 1 day, than back down to low end for 2-3 days, then a splurge day (usually about twice my normal calories). The splurge is actually really important. It helps rev up your metabolism so it doesn't adjust to the low calories and slow down.
