Apple Watch or Fitbit?

I don’t understand the jargon on YouTube comparing both for physical fitness purposes can someone help me compare between which of the two (or another option) would be good to track physical fitness + sleep? Thank you for your help! 🙏

Are you using this primarily with mfp?

Do you want / have need of a smartwatch or just a fitness tracker?

What type of activities are you planning to track?

Do you have an iPhone or an Android phone?

It’s more expensive, but if you have an iPhone, the watch and phone sync beautifully with MFP.

You might keep an eye out for Series 4 resales, since the 6 is coming out. Out of curiosity I followed the steps to trade in my perfectly fine (but scratched face) 4 cell model and Apple offered me a whopping $10 trade in. No thanks. I’d rather give it to someone for that. You may find a bunch of resales at super good prices soon.

I love that I can take and make phone calls, texts, what’s app, set a timer for cooking or laundry, add reminders, check my bank balance and the weather, calendar, all on my wrist without having to carry my phone. And the exercise rings and challenges have been super motivating. (Just call me Pavlov.) Even the “stand” reminder has been helpful if I’m lost browsing or doing needlework.

What I don’t like about it is -bearing in mind I’m abnormally careless and klutzy, plus my cat did the first honors, after being mesmerized by the face while it was on the charger the first night) the face scratches fairly easily, and you will probably want to use the Velcro band most if you’re a sweaty person like moi.

I really like the reviews this guy does, and he has a nice comparison tool that includes many different brands so you can set up a side by side comparison of the gadgets you are looking at.

If you just want to track step based activity and sleep almost any tracker out there these days can do it. Garmin has some affordable, intro level trackers too now, so it might be worth looking at their options as well.

If you don't require the bells and whistles a Fitbit will do just fine such as a versa 2, however Fitbit is known to have a low lifespan on their devices. if you want all the bells and whistles, notifications , more apps and things of that nature a smart watch is more the way to go, however they're not known to have the most robust fitness data
