I look at the recommended figures for protein and fat to be 'minimum' numbers. From a macros perspective, I try to ensure I eat my recommended amount of protein, but I only worry about my carb numbers - and that's only because I'm diabetic.
From a weight loss perspective, the only thing that matters is your calories.
Macros help with satiety and ensuring you get the right balance of nutrients. Protein is needed for muscle maintenance. Some people find that protein or fat help them feel full for longer; others say that's the case with carbs.0 -
