Hi everyone! I notice that alot of you are on 100g carbs per day.. is anyone over 122g per day? I'm at 40% so I get in at least 122g per day and sometimes I'm over but.. it hasn't really caused me to "gain weight" as what people say carbs can do..
Who here is over 100g carbs per day but still has success towards weight loss or maintenance?

I would be one of those.0

I believe it totally depends for everyone. I am on 100 grams a day, but I only burn about 300 to 400 a day so It's not bad at all, if anything it has help me. It also depends what kind of carbs you are taking in, or if you burn a lot of calories by working out.0

I eat plenty of carbs and I've lost 46 pounds and am getting close to maintaining now.
My personal opinion is that carbs aren't the enemy, they are a great source of energy and can fit happily into a healthy diet.
Just the same as all the other food you eat, you just need to pick the carbs that give you good nutritional value for the calories (so I'm not a fan of the twinkies diet!)0 -
I aim to keep mine under 150 but I don't adhere strictly to that (40% goal). I lose about 2 pounds a week so it hasn't hindered me at all. But that's just me - people's bodies react differently, so give it a try and see what your results are.0

My diet through my entire journey has been 50% carbs and I have done really well0

I did the SOuth Beach Diet 2 years ago, and for about 18months after that I was totally scared of carbs.
Now, since calorie counting, I'm amazed how many carbs I can eat and lose weight! Granted 70% of them are wholegrain/not processed like they used to be, but I'm definitely over my carb-phobia now.0 -
Most days I am over 200g of carbs. I've lost 60lbs and am now in maintenance. I'm doing just fine. But, I do know that my body LOVES carbs, isn't sensitive to carbs, etc.0

I hit a nasty plateau after losing 8 pounds while eating about 45% carbs. I'm now keeping them under 100 grams per day as it's the only way I can continue to lose weight. I can maintain with more, and the proper amount of calories, but if I want to lose weight, I'm learning that my carbs need to be restricted.0

I cycle mine so some days are higher than others. Carbs aren't bad as they spare muscle on calorie deficits. However the type of carbs you eat do make a difference. Some people are carb sensitive too.0

I eat about 2000 calories a day, 40% carbs, which is about 200 grams.0

this X1000
i eat about 120g per day and it helps me get through my workouts. I tried 100g or less a day and I was miserable xD0 -
I eat about 2000 calories a day, 40% carbs, which is about 200 grams.
Isn't that 100grams? 1 gram of carb = 4 cals. 40% of 2000 = 400. 400/4 = 100.0 -
Up until tonight I was at 180g to maintain. Today, I made the decision to decrease a little to 165g to see how that goes. I only count carbs, protein and fat, not calories.0

I only hit 70 carbs today. i exercised a lot and was suppose to consume 334g...but carbs bloat me. Typically brown rice and whole wheat are the only carbs of choice. I set my carbs at 30%.
Thats just me though dont expect anyone to follow that.0 -

40% of 2000 = 800, 800/4 = 2000 -
Hit 407g yesterday! (I am trying to gain weight though) But overall calorie deficit/surplus is the main thing to worry about.0

I'm on 55% carbs which gives me just under 200g per day & I've been losing consistently. I should mention, however, that I'm also a long distance runner (we tend to be carb happy)! Probably everyone is a bit different, go with what works for you0

So far I pay no attention at all - I just focus on the calories....but I do know we are all so different on this carb thing - I can handle lots of carbs. I can NOT handle lots of sodium. In fact sodium seems to be the biggest downfall I have. That or having too much fiber (and I know some say no such thing as too much but I have found that then I pass the 60 grams of fiber a day I just don't lose weight for weeks and for me it's very easy to get that many grams).
Good luck!0 -
With carbs I am much more focused on quality rather than quantity.
I am one person who is blessed/cursed with a strong sensitivity to grains and sugar. If I eat a relatively small amount I have lots of digestive issues, heartburn, reflux, the works. Plus I am ragingly hungry all day. My girlfriend has come up with a new term for my mood when I go above 50-60% low quality carbs...Hangry
To me carbs are about whole food sources... Green veggies, other colored veggies, roots, even starchy veggies- yams, certain squashes, etc. Nothing that has been processed. I try to make these 15-30% of my total calories.0 -
This is definitely an area that shows how people's individual needs vary. People doing high intensity aerobic activities burn a lot of carbs during their activities, so can eat more. Some people are more sensitive to carbs and certain types of carbs. Even people that are sensitive though may be able to handle more if their aerobic activities change. Depending on what you are trying to do with your body, you will want to change your carb ratio too. Body builders are going to focus on different percentages than distance runners and different from someone sitting at a desk job. If you found something that works for you and keeps you satisfied, then keep with it. As your needs change, adjust. Best of luck!0

i am on 45% carbs which is about 190 grams, sometimes i am under, sometimes a little over, but i am at maintenance and its not doing me any harm.
I lost 14lbs in 3 months without having to pay too much attention to my carbs, but i know i ate less then, as i generally only had carbs in 2 meals, not all 3 like i do now.
at the end of the day though, everyone is different, and u have to find what works for you.0 -

Oops I kept thinking of her 40% as 20%. My bad but in my defence I had a long day :blushing:0 -
I keep my carbs at 40% or lower except when I compete. I don't lose weight if I go over 40% and I do gain abt 3lbs right after competing. I don't feel good at competitions with my carbs at 40% or lower. Everyone is different. I have a sedentary job and my doctor says my body is just really efficient at storing carbs. Bread of anykind is especially deadly.0
