just trying to get ideas for mixing up my menus. i also have to think in terms of what my kids will eat (including the 37 y.o. hubbie!)

i rely primarily on kosher chicken breasts, ground beef, natural pnut butter, cheese (but now going to reduce that), and beans (a little).

what about you? what are your best/fave sources of protein?

I was going to say something naughty :blushing: but I decided against it and to let your imagination run wild.

I like to mix it up through the week because there are so many options out there. I would have to say that I probably use beans and chicken the most but I try to only have any given meat once in a week and the rest of the week beans, lentils eggs = hey and peanut butter never killed anyone!

I try to plan a month of menus so I can make sure to have a variety. Then I gather any recipes and stack them into the weeks I plan on using them and then make my basic grocery lists using another website to help with all of this. Makes the trip to costco easy and keeps my costs down!

glad i'm not the only one anal about that! i try to make meal plans for 2 weeks at a time, and our grocery list is in an excel spreadsheet so we just highlight needed items. told you--geeks are us.

I'm probably a week ahead at a time. I want to get better at it though. I do make sure I have a list when I go to the store.

protein bars only when away from the kitchen for too long
    cheese
    peanut butter
eggs and egg whites from costco

Protein bars! How do you reconcile that with eating "clean"? Some of them pack as much sugar as a candy bar, and others have sucralose and maltitol.

I used to eat chicken every day for like, 2 meals a day. Now I hate it and almost never eat it.
I can't digest whey, so I don't do shakes. I don't really need them anyway.
