Fall color: Easy Pass larch march (pics)

Larches have needles and cones, you'd think they were evergreens, they look just like any other pine. But they tolerate extreme cold by dropping their needles in the fall (October) and growing new ones in the spring (June). Before the trees go bare, they turn a brilliant shade of gold, it's magical when the sun hits just right.

So I went on a larch march yesterday to watch them sing the song of winter.

Some names are lies. Greenland is one of the iciest and least green places on earth. Easy Pass is miles of very steep, a lot of it on loose, broken rock.

I've been up there Easy Pass trail twice, now I've come down the trail too. 🙂
