lose skin -yuck

I've just started back on this weight-loss journey. I lost 80 lbs a few years ago (WW) and have gained back 34. I'm going to get it off for good this time, and have set my goal at a lower weight - because that's what I really want. BUT, here's the thing. Last time I lost, the lose, crinkly, skin was not so pretty. I'm a 50 y.o woman - so I get that I'm not going to have 30 y.o. skin! But does anyone have recommendations for products or magic :) that will give me some smooth elasticity? How do those Biggest Loser people not have aprons of skin on their arms and legs? (Can't see their stomachs)

  • I've been told that water is the single most important thing to help the skin retract as you lose weight. I've lost 63 lbs and am finding I miss the padding on my backside!!!

Probably because they have surgery to remove the loose skin...

Same age, same problem. Those Biggest Loser contestants have it too, they just do a good job of hiding it for television. Some of them have had skin reduction surgery after their loss. And some of them are young enough that maybe their skin still has some elasticity. Me - too old and carried way too much weight for too long. Unfortunately, cosmetic surgery is the only option. I have started considering it but it's expensive and not covered by insurance.
  • Hi and no, there isn't a magic wand. As you age, your skins elasticity, much like that in a pair of underwear, gets shot. I used vats of lotions and did weights, but I still have a lot of skin. I joke that I look like a raisin! As for the BL contestants, the younger ones have better skin elasticity and the older ones are all on record as having had some skin removal for the problem you noted. I am scheduled for skin removal on my upper arms and stomach for 11/3 and will be happy to share my experience if interested.

Water, exercise (including weight lifting!), and a good quality lotion. :)
