Oats & Phytic Acid ?

When I was googling overnight oats, I stumbled upon an article about why we shouldn't eat raw oats. I was curious, so I clicked on it. The writer quoted Sally Fallon’s Nourishing Traditions "seven hours of soaking in warm acidulated water will neutralize a large portion of phytic acid in grains.". There is another artice that also says that we shouldn't eat uncooked oats. I'm confused. Rolled oats that we buy have been steamed (and flattened) by the producers, right? So, even if we don't use warm acidulated water, the oats should be safe to consume? I didn't even know anyone who eats acidic oats.... Do these articles contain any truth or just scaremongering? I will be very grateful if someone can share studies on this matter.

    Thats the premice of paleo really, or one element. Phytates and lectins can cause vitamin and minereal deficiencies. Not scaremongering. Also wholegrain products contain insoluable fibre that can irritate the gut. Soluable fibre from veg is the best kind. If i ever eat grains i go for white ( and class it in the same category as desert e.g. cakes etc. in my diet. Ie in moderation and as a treat)

    Oats = grains=carbs=sugar=bad.

    Yes. Soaking them solves most of the issue.
