Input on slim fast

Has anyone tried it and does it work? Being I drive for my job I think it might be easier to start my weight loss.

Not knowing what you're aiming for, slimfast doesn't have much going for it in the way of satiety. You swill it and meh, you're hungry an hour later. If you want to use it as a tool with some meals, it's not much different than using any protein powder you like and simply add your own water.
Starting your weight loss out with slimfast doesn't teach you much about food for the long haul ahead. It wouldn't be my choice because I think you'll be quickly bored with it.4 -
I'm 59, and have tried so many things. @Diatonic12 has already given you some great advice. I would strongly encourage finding "real" foods that work easily for you. And yes, I did try Slimfast at one point, but I think it was the 80's. If it was great, I would have done it again. :P4

Have tried Slimfast in the past, it's handy for short term water weight loss for a holiday/event (i.e. debloating) but for long term weight loss in my opinion no good at all, they aren't filling and they don't set you up well for maintenance.
That said I slightly disagree with @Diatonic12 they are not the same as using a protein shake as it is a meal replacement shake and contains more in terms of vitamins, minerals, etc than you would get in standard protein shake.
If you're driving and liquid/flask foods are easier for work, consider maybe some chunky soup or a stew, it'll be far more filling, more cost effective, can be prepped ahead, refrigerated or frozen and as you move to maintenance you can adjust portion sizes.5 -
I think it also depends which shake a person chooses and what their goals are. It also depends on willpower. Eventually people get tired of only being "allowed" a shake for breakfast and lunch, and IMO shake programs don't help us learn long-term, sustainable eating habits.
I agree with @tinkerbellang83 - chunky soup/stew can be great right out of a thermos, and as wintertime is coming it would also be much more warming/filling than a cold bottle of "meal replacement liquid". I love homemade beef stew.

I do not think it is for us to decide how people will feel about their choices. Some might feel restricted. Some might feel it is a treat. Some might appreciate the ease and consider it a compromise.
The ultimate goal is to build a sustainable plan and if you honestly believe that you can be one of the super rare people who can do it with shakes, give it a shot. However, you will have to eventually either learn how to feed yourself a sustainable calorie amount to keep the weight off -OR- do as a friend of mine has done and use the shakes on and off in maintenance to handle slight regains. So in other words he will likely either fail and regain weight, although he has been doing this for a long time now, or he will be drinking the shakes on and off for forever.
I know it is a bad idea for me because I have tried it. I failed at it and then foolishly tried it again. I failed at it again and FOOLISHLY tried a third time. There might have been a fourth try too... I forget.

Also, it is really important that you not work off the biases of other people but develop your own. This requires some experimentation but it also involves being committed to weight loss above and beyond the plan you are trying. In other words be prepared to adapt and have multiple ideas for how you can lose weight in case plans A, B, C, etc. are not the ones for you.0
